It's definitely one of my favorite miniseries! During the first part, "The Early Years," the couple starts a family, and although times are tough, Joseph still finds time to play music on the side. When he discovers that his sons have inherited the same talent, the Jackson 5 are born. They sign with Motown and start churning out the gold records. The second part, "The Success Years," begins in 1970 at the peak of their fame, but by 1976, the hits have started to dry up. Then, they move over to CBS/Epic Records and achieve even bigger success. It is a long, 4-hour drama with some uneven acting, generic supporting actors/actresses, and terrible storylines, but overall it's a pretty good bio. An American Dream isn't the most definitive or complete story of the Jackson family because it leaves alot of their most vital moments out of the picture and that just irks me about it. All biopics have their faults, and this has quite a number of them. Angela Bassett and Lawrence Hilton Jacobs were stunningly brilliant!

VH1 love to show this. I liked the parts when little Michael threw his shoe at Joe and refused to sing opting to play store instead. lol

I love that movie. I have it in my room somewhere! And Wylie was an absolute doll. I was sick for like a week when I learned he died. He was such a cute look alike.

This movie was one of my favorite movies back when I was 8 or 9.
This movie is still one of my favorite movies now that I'm 22.

It is so sad that Wylie Draper died so young. He was one of the actors that made this movie. (My personal favorite) and so much better than Flex Alexander at playing Michael Jackson. There were times during this movie when I forgot that he wasn't Michael Jackson, and just got lost in this movie. Loved it.

Totally worth picking up if you can find it. biggrin

I liked it. I don´t even have it on VHS.

I felt that same way too. When Wylie started the Pepsi Burn scene where his head lit up and he fell down the stairs, I actually thought it was really Michael Jackson and I started crying because I thought Michael was really hurt. To this day I don't drink Pepsi or Pepsi products because of the commercial. Out of respect for him.

I love it. I recorded it off of VH1 years ago onto a VHS tape. I wish they would play the movie again because I just bought a DVD recorder last week and would like to re-record it onto DVD. I would record from the VHS tape but it was recorded with a mono VCR and I want my DVD to be in stereo.

Any other time, they would be playing the movie four times a week but if you ever want them to play it.....hell no, they are busy playing shows like "I Love New York" with that ghetto bitch that looks just like Lamb Chop.....

Anyway, the Jackson's movie is cute. I loved when Angela (as Kathryn) caught Joe cheating and went the fuck off. lol

I thought that the Temptations movie was much better though.
