Is that Bette Midler woman worth checking out?

I don't remember ever listening anything from her...I just vaguely remember for her on those dumb movies (comedies) she made...She couldn't even make a tree laugh

Ok, the later ones ain't great (Beaches, Outrageous Fortune)...but Ruthless People is classic.

More importantly, her first two 70s albums are great. She's raw, funky and messy, thanks to all the blow she was doing. Live, she's incredible, totally turned me into a fan. She's really hilarious, tells filthy jokes and makes fun of her sappy Disney era.

I guess what I'm saying is: YES!

Just watch The Rose or For The Boys and you'll understand why she's the Divine Miss M, sappy chick flicks be damned.

Her voice is one of the great one out there. SHe has sung many memorable songs too. I don't know a lot of her music. SHe is appreciated by older folks and she is sort of a standard now. Dos a lot of covers and big band stuff now.

Acting wise, I think she has done some good things and some sillier stuff. The Rose, Ruthless People are two stand outs...even the weepy sappy Beaches is decent.

Not a huge fan but I love her verison of "In My Life". Easily my favorite song by her. It seems to be Beatle covers almost always blow away the originals...I guess they are greater songwriters than performers in my opinion.
