Don Kirshner's Rock Concert

I recently bought a DVD recorder and I've been pulling a lot of my old VHS tapes and transferring them to DVD. In the process, I ran across about three episodes of "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" that I had recorded from VH1 in the 1990s which featured The O'Jays, Undisputed Truth, The Commodores, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Redbone, and Ike & Tina Turner. These were great performances and they were all done live.

Anyone else into "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert"?

I saw Cameo performing "I Just Want To Be" on youtube (on one of the days when the blocks were off our computers) and they were great. I think that was on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. They really need to start re-airing these episodes or release them on DVD.

I remember staying up late when I was 8 years old and feeling guilty for being up late but was rewarded with performances like this one.....

I used to LOVE that show! Also Midnight Special and Sunday Night. There used tobe some good music on television! Did you ever see Paul Shaffer do Don Kirshner? Funny stuff!
BUT more importantly, I'd love to know what kind of DVD recorder you got. I bought a Panasonic one a while back to transfer my VHS (especially my Prince stuff) and was thrilled with it until I found that the DVDs that I recorded on there wouldn't play on other DVD players!! Now the damn thing doesn't record anymore anyway (it just BROKE for no apparent reason!) and I'm in the market for one that I can use more for transferring than recording directly. Thanks!

One Friday night in 1974 I saw a whole episode of the Midnight Special with Al Green, then Don Kirshner's Rock Concert featuring James Brown! James was soaking with sweat as soon as he hit the stage! VH1 replayed a lot of the old Midnight Special episodes a few years back, and I caught and taped most of the Al Green episode. cool

I remember most of the 70s night/late night "performance" programs...

ABC - In Concert (1972), Don Kirshner's Rock Concert (1973)
NBC - The Midnight Special (1973), Night Music (1988)
CBS - ?

...Except CBS? hmmm

Are there any episodes of MNS on DVD. There are over 350 episodes. It would be nice to have them all.
