Najee said: My criteria will be singles that peaked on the Billboard charts within that year; album tracks will be based on the year the album was released. NOTE: I do reserve the right to update this list.
1984: 26. Change "You Are My Melody" 25. Prince & The Revolution "17 Days" 24. The Dazz Band "Joystick" 23. O'Bryan "Go On and Cry" 22. Patrice Rushen "Feels So Real (Won't Let Go)" 21. The Art of Noise "Beat Box" 2. Cameo "She's Strange" 1. Prince & The Revolution "When Doves Cry" [Edited 3/11/07 8:57am] Najee, You and I have many common favorites. We could be brothers I remember exactly where I was, the first time I heard When Doves Cry. ...She's Strange was a Cameo all-time fave - and then they came with Room 123! Egyptian Lover absoulutely was a west coast underground mover that made me want to buy a drum machine. Encore! (Cheryl Lynn) is such a GREAT R&B song. The way it builds at the end is dope. Is that a real bass or a keyboard or both? Really - the only song i don't like on your list is the Bar-Kays song. I'm not wild about Reebie Jackson either. But Tell Me (SoS), You are My Melody (Change) - all that stuff is classic to me. It brings me back. | |
