So, during Magnolia, the movie...

...who cried during Wise Up? You know, where the lead characters were all singing along to Aimee Mann...

I did. It totally rocked my emotions. As did most of the movie.

Okay, blissfully, I did not have that particular affliction.

I also cried a bit during Julianne Moore's scene in the drugstore. Beautiful. She should have earned an Oscar for that scene alone...

Apart from the lame joke I did above, I have to say that I love the soundtrack...even the Supertramp tunes. It was my introduction to Aimee Mann.

i know i got weepy in that movie, but i forget when. not during the song. i hate it when people start singing in artsy movies like that. i want to start a slap line. but i loved that film, generally speaking. it never feels like a 4 hour movie to me.

That last moment, the way she looks into the camera. Bliss.

almost any other time I'd be 100% onside, but that song is so perfect I can't even begin to dislike that scene. I didn't cry, though.

amazing film, even tom cruise failed to mess it up.
i hadn't read any hype b4 seeing the film. I was on a 1st date and was feelin' a tad out of my depth.
The film made me 4get myself, I didn't strike a home run that night but I didn't care.

I did'nt cry though.

The whole soudtrack album was also amazing. "Bachelor no.2" Has mostly all the songs with some extras. But as far as I'm concerned it's here best album.

some extras? its an entirely different album...there are only three songs shared between the two albums (and one song that goes from an instrumental to a full fledged w/ vocals tune)

...those two puppies are totally different albums in theme and mood and both are must haves.

Nuh UUUUH! I don't believe that last line for a second! You mean to tell me you don't know her from the group 'Til Tuesday' (with the song that goes 'Hush-hush---keeep it down now, Voices Car-ry...)?

Young Pharmacy Kid: Strong, strong stuff here. What exactly you have wrong, you need all this stuff?
Linda Partridge: Motherfucker...
Young Pharmacy Kid: What are you talking about?
Linda Partridge: Who the fuck are you, who the fuck do you think you are? I come in here, you don't know me, you don't know who I am, what my life is, you have the balls, the indecency to ask me a question about my life?
Old Pharmacist: Please, lady, why don't you calm down - ?
Linda Partridge: Fuck you, too. Don't call me "lady". I come in here, I give these things to you, you check, you make your phone calls, look suspicious, ask questions. I'm sick. I have sickness all around me and you fucking ask me about my life? "What's wrong?" Have you seen death in your bed? In your house? Where's your fucking decency? And then I'm asked fucking questions. What's... wrong? You suck my dick. That's what's wrong. And you, you fucking call me "lady"? Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on both of you.

she was so good in that movie!! nod

Jeez, I do not remember this at all. I sure as hell don't remember Julianne Moore talking about sucking cocks, and that's something you'd think would be permanently etched in my memory.

Perhaps I need to revisit this. It's been a few years...

That was pretty much my favorite part of the movie.

Alan Kligman, Esq.: Linda, stop. Now you take a moment, you breathe, and one thing at a time.
Linda Partridge: Shut the fuck up.
Alan Kligman, Esq.: You know what would help you, Linda?
Linda Partridge: Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up.
Alan Kligman, Esq.: You need to sober up.
Linda Partridge: Now, you must *really* shut the fuck up now, please - shut the fuck up.
Alan Kligman, Esq.: Linda.
Linda Partridge: I have to go.
Alan Kligman, Esq.: Let me call you a car Linda.
Linda Partridge: Shut the fuck up.

But, there really is nothing better than Frank T.J. Mackey saying "Suck my big fat *****ing sausage!!!"

lol

"I'm quietly judging you"

"I HOPE IT HURTS!"

I love Tom's performance here, easily his best. Anyone who doesn't rate him as an actor should watch this movie... perhaps only this movie cause only one or two other performance even come close.

The whole William H Macy bar scene is so tragic too.

I'll admit though I really hated the ending... just the frog bit, everything else was awesome. And yes I did 'get' the frog bit I just thought it was weak.

I don't dislike tom but I can't rate him as an actor. He never plays anything far from himself.
Though I'll admit he sometimes has to wear different clothes in different films.
One might argue that he gets typecast, but it's a very weak argument considering he has a lot of control over the roles he takes on and how he performs them.
I liked vanille sky. The girls in that film are clearly more talented in their trade than tom and don't get half as much recognition.
I'm often suprised that tom doesn't mess a film up.

And I liked the ending to magnolia, life is like that. It was a bold move by the director.

I agree about Tom's performance. I've actually never been a fan really, but for his performance in Magnolia I've got to give it up: it was the first and only time Tom Cruise on film made me sit up, take notice, and give him respect for his craft
