In case you didn't know, Van Hunt was already drop by EMI last year. The only way EMI won't drop Norah or Joss is if their albums are selling. They might need to go 2 million copies a piece to stay on the EMI roster.

Well the funny thing is that i have heard from a friend at EMI, that the Van Hunt dropping wasnt about units, it was more about they couldnt get him play anywhere, MTV wouldnt take him, VH1 gave him almost no time, and BET turned it down saying it didnt fit their format??WTF is that about. So it was almost a mutual parting of ways, they felt the guy was someone that should have been the next Lenny but no one wanted it. As far as Joss selling 2 million in the USA, thats not going to happen, since it hasnt yet, no one is doing 2 million in the states at this point, though Norah has passed a million here, i dont see it selling much more than 2.5, worldwide however is stronger for Joss and Norah too, Norah debuted at no.1 in the UK which was a shock, and Joss obviously is big over there, so worldwide those 2 easily will sell that.

Van Hunt doesn't fit the current image of what a hip-hop/r&b artist is suppose to look/sound like. Yes, the people of ViaCON is trying to keep that man quiet by not playing his videos on their network. Even I'm surprise that a Van Hunt video was never seen on VH-1 at 2am-8am time block.

Exactly, it kills me that BET, would not embrace this guy, but he doesnt fit their image, which is saying because he plays, hes not BLACK! thats basically what BET is saying and spreading.

Yeah she is a great girl, also because she seems to be tough about what she is going to do and not going to do. So its funny how people put her down, and yet she is one of the only females, especially at her age to have some control over what is going on in her career and direction of her music. Do you think Ciara could say to her label, i wanna work with Raphael Sadiq instead of missy and not get laughed at or dropped .

Yeah Van Hunt will be fine though, he will better off without labels over him trying to sell him to MTV/BET. Those stations arent looking to promote musicians, BET has nothing to do with RB anymore, it sold its SOUL a long time ago. I see Van Hunt becoming like Jeffrey Gaines who has been an indie artist since the early 90's doing fine, playing gigs, has a following and is happen doing what he is doing.

That looks freaky.

Though comparisons will always happen, its really hard to compare anyone really. Whether it be a Baseball player from today to one from the 1950's or a singer from today and one that came up in the 70's. Times were very different, honestly Joss probably would have been more accepted in the 70's then now, now she is labeled as a "white girl" doing soul music, the same thing would go for Thicke, now he is a "white boy" doing soul music. As Daryl Hall said recently he knows for a fact that Hall and Oates would never be accepted in todays market for the simple fact that there are so many divisions and labels for your music.

joss is a singer...teena writes her own music and plays instruments...and she is funk..and she did it on her own.

joss has had to be molded and tutored to be what she is...and she still aint there...she is a pop artist with shades of soul. teena was always the real deal...not because it would be novelty...but because it was in her soul...and that bled through into her work.

joss is far too divisive of an artist to ever be compared to teena. she has way too many detractors who look at her as fake as beyonce's hair.

Well that can be said of everyone from Lenny Kravitz to Robin Thicke to even Van Hunt to Alicia Keys. I think we decide far too quickly who someone is and who they are like rather than letting them just be. People compare Thicke to Prince, really? Did he struggle the way Prince did in his life coming up, not at all, just because you sing a falsetto and plunk a few notes on Guitar you arent the NEW PRINCE. No one can be anyone, Joss cant be Teena, Thicke cant be Prince, Lenny cant be Lennon and Mariah cant be Aretha, so do we shut the door and never let anyone carve their own path? It would be different if Joss was preaching "Im the new Teena Marie" then i would be there knocking her down, which is why i dislike JT is that he does preach that he is the new prince or Michael. But its mainly media and magazines that will say hey your the new Prince or the new Teena Marie or the new Janet Jackson etc.. I will have to disagree that Joss is divisive, if she was then she would pull a Nelly Furtado and sex it up and work with Timbaland to sell a few records, but she hasnt, she picked Raphael Sadiq, whom her label said NO WAY, and she said, well its either Raphael or no record.

Perhaps, but keep in mind that Joss is still only 19 years old.She has many years to grow and evolve as an artist. As far as her being "molded and tutored to be what she is",I think it's remarkable that she recently battled her record company to make the type of album that SHE wanted to make. She picked the producers, the songs, etc. They wanted her to do the same type of predictable, trendy R&B/hip-hop that everyone else is doing, but she refused. She wanted to make a genuinely soulful album.Pretty impressive for a 19-year old artist.Give her time, she will prove herself. As for your claim that Joss is "fake",keep this in mind: Lauryn Hill wouldn't work with just anybody.

Joss Stone is the closest thing to a Teena Marie for her generation. My only complain is that they'll never play any of her songs on FM Radio. Without the internet (especially YouTube) I wouldn't ever know she exist.

amazingly, the first time I heard a Joss Stone on the radio,it was on a local station that plays Quiet Storm/R&B! It seems as if pop radio basically ignores her altogether. This same thing happened to Teena Marie. With the exception of "Lovergirl",she didn't get alot of acceptance from pop radio.
