OTW has some tracks that are just plain silly or pleasant filler, like Girlfriend (i hate that song ), I can't help it and It's the fallin' in love;

confused I can't Help it, is one of MJ precious gems, itas not been over-played and over commercialized. The more I think about the more I am happy that songs like I can't Help it, The falling in Love, GEt on the Floor were not A-side singles. It is not necessarily the commercially successful songs that makes an album classic, it's the hidden gems imo that really give an album it's overall quality.

Bad is his worst album. It's dated very badly (with the exception of Man in the Mirror and The Way You Make Me Feel) and the production sounds clunky and sterile.Thriller, and of course Off the Wall, sound organic and fresh in comparism largely because there's real musicianship on there rather than synths and programming.

I agree, the 'Bad' album didn't age well. These days, most of the songs on that album sound really dated. For the most part,I don't like alot of late-80s music. There were too many synths, too many drum machines and other production gimmicks. To me,'Off The Wall' still sounds fresh and invigorating. It's an album that has stood the test of time.

You don't like Smooth Criminal?

The Motown albums aren't that great. Some of them have a few gems, but they aren't comparable to his 1979-2001 albums. His best ones are Music & Me and Forever Michael.

They are absolutely comparable to his other albums!

Invincible is probably dead last after Farewell My Summer Love.

If I were to rank his solo albums (including the Motown ones) it'd go like this...

1. Bad
2. Dangerous
3. Off The Wall
4. Thriller
5. HIStory
6. Invincible
7. Forever, Michael
8. Music & Me
9. Got to Be There
10. Ben

(One Day In Your Life isn't a real album. It's more a compilation. Farewell My Summer Love isn't really a studio album either. It's a collection of rarities/unreleased songs from his Motown days.)

I take his Motown solo material over Bad, Dangeous, HIstory anyday, anywhere. At least in those songs you still hear Michael's soul, rather than the hollow, contrieved pop sound he started to do in earnest after Thriller.

If you can't hear the passion and soul in songs like Stranger In Moscow, They Don't Care About Us, Morphine, Who Is It etc then YOU'RE the hollow one, not Michael.

I think Stranger in Moscow is a wonderful song, his best song post-Thriller, but more often than not like his face MJ music has become contrieved and hollow.

Nah, I think there's way too much filler on his solo Motown albums. A lot of songs are fantastic ("I Wanna Be Where You Are" is easily in my top-5 of all MJ songs), but I'd have to say all of his adult solo albums are more consistent (save Invincible).

Of course I heard Ben...It's a cute album that showcased a kid with an astonishing voice...But it's not up there with his best...Speaking of his best, the best song MJ has ever written over the past 15 or so years is "Stranger In Moscow"...If only the rest of the History album was on that level...Just a brilliant song, lyrically and conceptually....

"I Can't Help It" is vocally MJ at his best...It's also the type of mature, soulful song that MJ should have done more often in his career...I don't trust the opinion of anyone who doesn't like that song...lol

I must be the only orger who rates Invincible among Mike's best work.
Still, no different to NorthernLad's love for The Beekeeper or Anx and his Come fetish.

I never liked "Smooth Criminal" boxed

I think 'Bad' contains three really great songs:

"Liberian Girl"
"Another Part Of Me"
"Man In The Mirror"

The other songs are just okay ("The Way You Feel Me Feel") or just plain dumb ("Speed Demon"..."Just Good Friends").
