Is it possible to buy a Betty Davis CD without having to buy an import?

I've REALLY been wanting to get into Betty Davis's albums lately, ever since I stumbled across her song "Don't Call Her No Tramp"...I have no idea how accessible/rare her stuff is, though I know there are a few fans of hers on the Org. What should I be looking for? Is there a best-of anthology that's somewhat easy to find? Amazon.com only has pricey imports, and I don't even know if I'd like her well enough to pay import prices....but if that's the only options, which are the best?

This is a question that has practically kept me up at night. I've been wanting her music for awhile now but the import prices keep me away.

I may just have to break the bank and do Amazon especially since I rarely see her stuff in stores, used or new.

May I make a suggestion, my friends? Try www.dustygroove.com and they should have her music. I highly recommend checking out this site because I copped her CD's there at a very reasonable price.

I'm curious about her CDs too! I've heard alot of things about her.She was once married to Miles Davis in the late 60s.

poeticrockstar, are there any of her albums you'd recommend over others, or are they all pretty much equally good?

I got Nasty Gal at one of my local music shops, it was an import and thus put me back $17.95, but it was definitely worth it! nod
If you will, so will I

I all honesty... they are all good! That's the truth. Betty Davis was so ahead of her time and I think finally she's getting the respect that she deserves.

If I am not mistaken dusty groove is based out of chicago and they have a location on the west side of town, I have always wanted to stop in and look around.

I have been wanting to get into Betty Davis also, especially after I recently heard the song Git In There from the album They Say Im Different, but I didn't know her stuff was out of print in the U.S, that sucks

i've been to that dusty groove a few years back, but i thought it closed or moved or something. it's around ashland and damen, right? in wicker park? it's a pain in the butt to get to from my part of town...i'd probably order from them online before i visited them! lol

I've been wanting to check her out also but I haven't seen any of her music anywhere....on CD or vinyl. Unless I order it from the internet, which is something I don't do.

..If you have to spend the xtra greenbacks to get her CD's do it..They don't write stuff like hers anymore. Her debut "Betty Davis" is killer. The Pointer Sisters and Slyvester (drag queen) do backups and Larry Graham and Gregg Errico hold down the rhythm. Neal Schon (Journey) even gets a nice lead on a cut.

YAAHOO!

i struck gold today!

i found the 30th anniversary remaster of ELO's "out of the blue", and the mojo special edition david bowie magazine (with an intro by ms. kate bush!), and THEN...i found betty davis's "this is it", which i believe is a best of, which is just fine by me. yay! i'll share my thoughts once i get a chance to listen.
