Whoop whoop! Forget Janet. MJ TOUR NEWS!!! yay

For months now there have been attempts to contact Michael Jackson to ask him to perform at the Sanremo music festival in Italy. They didn't know who to contact because they didn't know who he manager was anymore. Finally they contacted Raymone Bain and she said Michael would love to perform there, but not this year. He said he would rather wait until next year when his album is out and his world tour will be about to begin. That's awesome!! Sounds like he wants to use Sanremo as a sort of kick off for his world tour. This is cool. Way to get me over-excited MJ.

It comes from and Italian news site http://www.corriere.it/Pr...egiz.shtml

Translation (according to MJJForum.com).....

Attempts to bring the popstar to Sanremo began months ago. It took quite one month to understand exactly who actually is the singer's manager. His Washington's manager, Mrs. Raymone, was enthusiastic:"Michael wants to sing live, but since he's not too confident with his voice, he prefers a choral performance". A willingness returned with a promise to honor Jackson with an award to his career. Initial Jackson's request was to come to Sanremo without singing. Hypothesis immediately discarded by Rai: Sanremo is the festival of songs.

Jackson's give-up came at 11:00 pm (Italy time). "I'll be pleased to come to the next edition when my next album will be ready and I'll have set up my new 2008 world tour" said Jackson through his personal manager. "Sanremo is a too significant show and I don't want to come unprepared".

Janet doesn't have the balls to tell her fans yet so she gets Gil to hint that it might not happen.

Unless MJ hires a good musical director and somebody to help "direct" the show itself, I'm afraid it will be all rehash---same songs, same tempos and arrangements, choreography, even the same ad libs.

fro He needs to hire me to help him with that, but I would require him to actually sing, so....

Why so negative? Michael doesn't need to hire a good musical director because he is a good musical director. I reckon Michael's going to blow every mofo away with his new album and the '08 world tour. And when he does you'll feel like a real dumbass.

Why so positive? Michael has become stagnant in his musical direction and needs to get out of his comfort zone of re-enacting music videos and lip-synching/backtracks. I reckon new school fans will be happy just to see him on stage and hear some new music regardless of how ridiculous it looks for a 50 year old man to trying desperately to appeal to 14 year olds, but I won't impact my life in any way.

I'm not entirely sure what he was saying because he used to post a whole lost a crap on the janet.jackson.com forum that i couldn't be asked to read. But the main problem is that Janet is finding it hard to get sponsers for the tour. If Diana Ross can do it i really don't understand why Janet can't find any funds.

And with this whole Michael Jackson tour, i really really don't think he has the ablility to perform anymore. Doesn't anyone remember the 2001 VMA's when he was dancing with NSYNC? That was unbearable to watch. I hope he proves me wrong though, i have never seen him live and i hopefully would like to someday.....

I remember cringing at that. The spin was sooo slooow and then wasn't he out of breath? I did see the 30th Anniversary concert though and he was a bit better but I think a lot of elements need to be in place for it to be appealing to older MJ fans.

New director
Set design
Great band
New choreography
No lipsynching
No frozen facial expressions
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I think we have seen the best of MJ between 69 and 84. His newer fans i.e from 1990 etc want to experience what those of us who grew up in the 70s and the early 80s saw and took for granted. MJ stopped being that great spontaneous singer/dancer years ago. There's no way he is going to go back to that age 50, when he had stopped being that kind of performer by the time he was 35..

Totally agree. Honestly, I think Mike is conflicted about this. I believe (and this is just me) that he wants to change it up, but is afraid to. Maybe its because he's still such a child at heart.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being wishful, but I think MJ can still put on a good ol' fashioned concert, full of authentic soul and joy from just being in the moment. I think he's afraid to because it will require him to grow up a little bit and get away from all the Walt Disney/ Ringling Bros. antics that have been his crutch for the past decades.

I'd like him to put together an "Elvis '68 comeback"-style TV-special. That would allow him to also concentrate on live singing.

I don't think the interest in this will be nearly as high as some Michael fans might anticipate.

The "O.J. of Pop" making a comeback? That'll get people talking. I just wonder which comedians and actors he's gonna align himself with this time. Jamie Foxx? He's a Triple Threat. lol

Welp, looks like it aint happening. A fan emailed Raymone Bain and this was her response:

This is a total lie. I released no statements and Mr. Jackson sent his regrets
regarding this events some time ago because he is in the studio recording.

Hope you are well. Thanks so much for checking.

The comment wasn't addressed to you personally. And just as you see Orgers who "root" for Prince, there are MJ fans that "root" for their hero. Nothing wrong with that. All I'm saying is those who care about his success may find themselves disappointed, for the reasons Adisa addressed. Even fans of his music may not want to see him for various reasons.

If you go to the various MJ fan forums now, you will see a whole change of attitude. No-one really cares anymore if he's going to be a success because he's already been very successful and has nothing to prove. And because no matter how successful he is (#1 hit every month, multi-million selling album, 5+ Grammy wins), no one will ever acknowledge it because of his mega-successful past of 6 #1's off the one album, 100 million sales for one album, 8 Grammy awards in one year. So most fans don't care about that anymore, they are just really excited that they will be hearing a new album and seeing a new tour. They don't care what everyone else does. Who gives a shit if Prince fans or Madonna fans want to see Michael live? No one. Because the Michael fans want to see Michael live, and that's enough.
