MJ's Bad Tour on DVD

A while ago, a petition was created to get the Bad Tour released on DVD. As of now, there are over 13,000 signatures. Raymone Bain (MJ's publicist) was sent the petition by MJNO and she emailed them back saying that she will forward it on to MJ (as he is head of the Michael Jackson company, so he will have to approve it).

There have also been a lot of videos from the '88 Bad Tour concert at Wembley removed from YouTube. Videos are usually removed because they violate copyright laws. Because MJ's management have never had a problem with his tour videos being on YouTube until now, and the only concert they removed was the Wembley one, this suggests that they are releasing the Wembley concert on DVD.

One thing that may stand in the way of the tour being released on DVD is the amount of signatures. Back when MJJSource.com was still operating, the same fanclub (MJNO) emailed them asking about the possibility of the Bad tour being released on DVD and how many signatures they would need to convince them to consider it. They emailed back asking for 50,000 signatures. We are way off that. But MJ's with a new management team now, and they may be happy with 13,000. Them removing the Wembley videos, and the fact that Raymone Bain is shwoing MJ the petition, are good signs that the Bad Tour will finally be released on DVD.

I saw this concert at the Forum in Los Angeles. It was truly incredible. It was Michael before all the accusations and before he truly fucked up his face.

I'd like to see this on DVD, good times. smile

That is what I'm wondering about. hmmm
I for one, loved the MSG show in 2001, and would love to see it released on DVD, even as it was aired. I don't care how crappy some of you orgers thought the show was, it looked awesome to me. hmph!

Michael owns the rights to the footage. It was done by MJJ Productions or Optimum Productions, Michael's two former production companies

Here's what needs to be released along with a Bad Tour DVD:
a Making of Michael Jackson's Thriller DVD edition set
Moonwalker on US DVD
A Ultimate Video Collection so the other ones can be obsolete

Since Sony is releasing Thriller the 25th Anniversary Edition and the BAD 20th Anniversary Edition CDs later this year, why not open the vaults(MJJ Production AND Motown) and releasing stuff?!

Why the hell would Thriller need a 25th Anniversary Edition? I'd only buy it if they found the proper quality versions of the demos like Hot Street.

Well yes, it's about time someone released The Mamking Of Thriller on DVD too.

Obviously I'd prefer a Bad Tour DVD (and not the Yokohama one), but it's just weird that TMOT is still yet to be released. My VHS is all worn out.

Cool! As long is the wembley show and not the yokhohoma show, which is largely bootleg, and pretty much every hardcore MJ fan has it!

Jason,

I know people that were there for the MSG concert and they said that it was wonderful. I also listened to the radio the day after the concert and there were people calling in who attended the concert. Not a single person thrashed it. The people who are speaking negatively about it are basically going to do it because they are negative about anything that Michael does. In my opinion, they don't count. You loved the show, I loved the show and so did most people. These anti-MJ people have always been negative. It is nothing new.

I recently watched MJ's performance of "Dirty Diana" from his New York BAD tour performances and it was steaming "HOT". I remember when MTV showed this footage and the VJ was saying how HOT the performance was. I really hope IF this DVD is released that they release the NY concert. I don't know if the Wembley Stadium concert captured the same intensity,"hotness" and rawness that the New York concert did. I don't want anything re-mastered so that it will take away from the LIVE feel of the concert. That is what happened when the
"Dangerous Tour" was released on DVD. It looked as if Michael was not singing LIVE and he was. I have the original tape when this first aired on HBO and Michael was singing live 99% of the time. The only song that wasn't live was "Thriller" because he was singing through a mask. It makes me sick that people who never saw that concert when it first aired will think that he was lip-synching when he wasn't.

I went to the Bad Concert in Wembley 88 and it was great, however, I would like to see the earlier concerts on DVD, the truimph tour, the Jacksons in Mexico 75, Going Back to Indian 72, The J5 1970 tour. Having watched Youtube the true essence of Michael has a live performer can be found in the earlier tours.

Beside all that concert footage, I´d love to see Ghosts on DVD as well.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

The difference between the Wembley shows (there were 7 of them) and New York is really the setting. Wembley Stadium is about 5 times bigger than Madison Square Garden, so it's far less intimate.

Also if the Wembley one is the ones Princess Diana attended, Dirty Diana is unfortunately cut from the setlist sad I've seen an amateur footage of one of the Wembley ones with it though and it was remarkable even despite the rubbish quality of the video.

It'd take away from the flow of the concert, but they could edit in the NYC performance of Dirty Diana, since Michael didn't perform it at Wembley. That'd suck because it'd be so noticable that Dirty Diana is a whole nother concert in a completely different setting. But it'd suck even more if Dirty Diana wasn't on the DVD.

Well he did perform it at Wembley 6 times, just not the one Princess Diana was at.

Vital Wembley Statistic: Michael has performed at the stadium more times than anyone else with 15 concerts. The Rolling Stones are next with 12.

It is the best-selling album. Way ahead of Eagles Greatest Hits. Thriller's up to 104 million now. Eagles GHs is done around 30 million. AC/DC's Back in Black and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon both eclipse Eagles GHs in worldwide sales.
