After all these years, D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar" is better than ever.

It's my crack

"Brown Sugar"
"Jonz in my Bonz"
"Me and Those Dreamin Eyes"
"Smooth"
"When We Get By"

Pure, 10+, flawless, CLASSIC jams.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Really?

I love the first 2 tracks on voodoo...then it crash and burns for a few songs until "Chicken Grease"...then the best song isnt until track 10..."Feel Like Makin Love"...now that's may ALL Time fave D'angelo track. Cept it's Roberta Flack cover.

For me, Voodoo starts at track 4 and is a stone classic.

Chicken Grease
One Mo 'Gin
The Root
Spanish Joint

Shit, Damn, Motherfucker .... "Brown Sugar" was a near masterpiece, "Voodoo" even better and bolder in my opinion, and then .... WTF did he go? Still waiting, still waiting.

I completely agree with you. I think Voodoo's an absolute masterpiece. It's a harsher, rawer album than Brown Sugar, but it does build on the first album. It also hasn't dated a bit.

both of his albums were good, but "Brown Sugar" is superior to "Voodoo" in my opinion.

You can't beat "Me and Those Dreamin' Eyes", "Alright" and "Lady" (which was the ISHHHHH!!!!) music "Brown Sugar" is one of those few albums in my collection that I can listen to straight without skipping a single track nod
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

True, I don't think either album has dated....both sound like they just were released last month....

Most of Voodoo was Booboo. D' was feelin' himself way too much and he was in this mad rush to dethrone P, the liner notes even tell you that. That mumble-sing style shit got on my nerves as well. I'll take Brown Sugar over Booboo any day. biggrin
