so i'm searching You Tube to watch 99 Red Balloons and

i came across another Nena video and i'm like hey cool! Nena did something else besides 99 Luft Balloons! well as it turns out i go to Wikipedia to find out Nena has had 32! top 100 hits in Germany!! including a #1 song as recent as 2005 called "Liebe ist" its in german and i dont understand a word of it but the song sounds excellent and she still has that hot voice! drool and it makes me wonder how many so called "one hit wonders" we never get to see later in their career because the music buying public here in the U.S is so fickle...man i would rather hear NENA sing in German than hear 90% of the new stuff thats popular today smile
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

Well, i can tell you the title means "Love Is". At least i think that's what it says.

I reckon we here in the States miss alot of great "one hit wonders" because record companies are fucking clueless (as well as the general public).

Well,a few years ago,on MTV Europe, there was a special about
one hit wonders(from MTV America)) and it some of the artists they mentioned still
had succes overhere.

Simply Red;Holding back the years was a so-called one hit wonder, while
the album STARS sold much more(11million copies!!)years later.
George Michael;Faith album, but we all know he had a lot of succes with albums that followed.

There were many others but I don't remember them..

Nena had many hits in Germany in the first half of the 80s, but then she was not succesful at all for many years, not even in Germany until she made a comeback some years ago. That "Liebe Ist" song was the theme song for some very popular daily soap. So that helped the song a lot to become no 1 wink .
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Totally agree!! Oh and the other ultimate one hit wonder band a-Ha, check them out, they have had 36 charted singles and sold 70 million albums since their ONE HIT in america. Amazing band, still recording, and if it wasnt for them, alot of bands like Radiohead,Coldplay,Keane,Snow patrol, and alot of u2's later music wouldnt even exist!

That's good news,I only metioned those 2 because they were mentioned
in the US special on MTV.

A-Ha is a much better example.

Yep. Nenah has had fast and slow eras here, but is one of German pop music's most enduring stars. She's a real cutie, has ten zillion kids and looks AMAZING for her age, just GORGEOUS. She looks like an uber-pretty rock & roll soccer mom! It's always funny for me to hear people at home refer to European acts as one hit wonders when they don't know anything of the artists' careers other than the fluke hit they may have had in the U.S. charts. It's based on ignorance really, and we end up missing out on all the cool music that other countries get to enjoy based on that kind of market conditioning. Hey, did you also get to check out the 2004 version of 99 Luft Ballons? It was a modernized version released in conjunction with "NENA ft. NENA", the anniversary cd celebrating Nena's 20 years in German pop music. cool
