"You send me" - Sam Cooke or Aretha Franklin

Which version do you prefer?

I`ll go with Franklin on this one...
"You`ve got everything it takes to win me" music

WOW. I was listening to this song only yesterday.

I really can't choose between the two versions. Both are great. I love Aretha's live performace of this song.

Now, If were to ask me about "A Change Is Gonna Come," I would definetly give my vote to Sam Cooke.

I guess many people would agree with you on that, but his version didn`t do anything for me, if you know what i mean.
I like his voice and all, it was beautiful, but Franklin`s take on it is so soulful love

I hear you.
The simplicity of Sam's version was where the beauty was for me.

That and the signature whoa-ah-oh-oo-whoa-oh vocal move.

I have a part of it a BBC documentary Soul Deep, Ep.3. (about Sam Cooke) --> this is a really great documentary. seven hours in tota. Highly recommended!

Re's live performance of "You Send Me" was once also available on Youtube, but since those shitbags decided to bring down all the rare videos, it's no longer there. mad

Fortnately enough, I have downloaded a part of another documentary about Aretha where you can hear Re performing such rares as Mocking Bird love Soulville love love and You Send Me love love love

I can upload it for you if you're interested.

I love Sam yodelling. It's sublime.

I don't like his whole "Cha cha cha" thing, though.

The reason why I find Sam Cooke's version superior becoz of his use of the choral section music

Sam's. I just heard her talking about him on that tribute to her a couple weeks ago. I think she said she used to have a crush on him and loved his singing style.

There're rumors circulating around that her 1st born is Sam Cooke's baby.

I absolutely adore this song. If I ever get married, it will be my first dance (sorry P! razz )...but I've never heard Aretha's version. omfg I'll have to seek it out...I have a feeling I'll like Sam's better. I heart Sam. mushy
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Done! Check you PM. Sorry, I took me so long. I'm having my finals right now and its beating the hell out of my free time.

The clip contains Rere's performaces of Mocking Bird, Soulville, You Send Me and Rock Steady. There is also some commentary by Re, Nippy and Smokey.
Enjoy.

If anybody else is interested in this clip, let me know.
