its everything. her style of singing, the sound of the music, the melody...everything. i half expect to find out its a cover of an unreleased kate bush track.

from the opening chords and vocals to the very end, its kate bush through and through. ("putting onmamakeup..." totally kate.)

I love it.

me too! since you've mentioned it in here, i've listened to the song about 4 times. lol its a great track, channeling kate or not.

It's strange cuz Tori doesn't actually play on it. I'm not sure she even wrote the words. It was an Eric Rosse composition written 4 years after their breakup.

Have you tried putting "Me and You" in the mix too? It fits really well after "Spring Haze" and before "1000 Oceans".

Yeah, I DEFINITELY had an older version of this. This sounds much better, thanks so much!!

i haven't tried adding "Zero Point" to it's tracklist yet but
i should really do that tomorrow.

i did however, iirc, at one point add "carnival" to it and i
must say that song sounded damn good on there. although it's
not really the exact same period.

i love this album, it has a very special place in my heart,
however sappy that might sound. lol.

it also features the one song that everyone that's ever been
in my car and heard it loves: "lust"

really, every one is always as if in trance when that song
starts and by the end the all mutter "that is so beautiful"

smile

i don't really know why this isn't my fav tori album since i
love each and every song on there. they're all so special in
their own way. i guess it's just because boys for pele and,
as you all know by now, choirgirl are my favorite albums by
far, all lonely at the top, distantly followed by something
by prince.

the only thing i regret about this album is that it didn't
have any real b-sides. not any new original songs anyway....

actually, looking up the details again, "Carnival" may very well
have been another outtake from 'To Venus and Back' since that cd
was released in late 1999 and the MI:2 soundtrack was released in
2000.

i knew it fit on there, lol.

for me personally it fits just superbly between "spring haze"
and "1000 oceans". just try it.

it just comes along so beautifully right after spring haze music

Carnival is a cover... i've always liked it, though. I think it was recorded later than Venus, but it definitely fits the album.

I put my Zero Point between Lust and Suede.. it kinda works as a companion w/ Datura that way instead of having 2 long songs near the end of the album. I visualize it as closing side 1, and Suede works well after it.

But that's the cool thing about CD burners... it gives us all such freedom as fans to experiment cool

heart Juarez, Riot Poof (She does a live version of this that's a lot better than the studio version, imo. She adds an extra verse at the end.), Datura,Glory of the 80's. I still haven't heard a live version of Datura.....does she ever do it live? The piano work on it is nice.....and she's good at improvising, so I'm sure she could figure something out lyrically.

It works well with either Venus or Strange Little Girls. The toughest song from that era to place for me is "Merman".

ah yes, "merman", one of her most beautiful songs and i too have a
very hard time fitting it onto an alternate playlist. it just fits
well with the Choirgirl b-sides but not with the entire album and
it sounds to clean somehow to go onto Pele. and it's absolutely not
a Venus song at all.

my fav b-side is probably "Purple People", i just fell in love with
it all over again these last weeks and listen to it several times a
day.

i know my favorite should be "Cooling" since it's probably her very
best song concerning my personal psyche and all, but somehow purple
people just strokes me even better.

i love the version of Sugar that's on Venus! the b-side is kicking
and that version just brings out another side of it. very cool cut!

I adore Merman, and it's definitely one of my Top 5 or 6 favorite Tori songs... But it definitely doesn't fit on any of the albums. It should go with Choirgirl chronologically, but it's an odd fit with that album.

Choirgirl is my 2nd favorite Tori album overall, I think... 4 of its songs, iieee, Spark, Northern Lad (obviously), and Hotel are among my favorites. But it also has my LEAST favorite, "She's your Cocaine". I think it would have been a better album with "Purple People" instead of "She's Your Cocaine", but then Tori didn't ask my opinion. cool
