Black Eyed Peas: Before or after Fergie? so did you like the Black Eyed Peas better as a hip hop group before they added Fergie, or do you like them now as a pop group with Fergie included???
I just saw one of their vids pre-Fergie, and remembered how i liked their outlandish style as a hip hop group, but after they added Fergie, it was like they just added her so that their fan base could grow or something..... What's your opinion? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Pre Fergie...
Post Fergie... "I wasn't invited to shake hands with Hitler, but I wasn't invited to the White House to shake hands with the President, either" ~ Jesse Owens

i love the song and video where the wind is blowing them around...its pre-fergie...i would consider respecting that band...
but now? i wouldn't touch that band with a 100 foot pole. Space for sale...

I actually liked them Pre-Fergie and perhaps could have still liked them if they'd have kept her in the back as a dancer or something but when they moved her out front and let her convince herself that she's Fergilicious...I lost ALL respect!!

They lost me when they came out with "My Humps" It was downhill from there.

I liked them before fergie but wrote them off as a hip hop group sampling like everyone else, because one of their songs sampled family affair-sly & the family stone and look out weekend-debbie deb, I think this was in 1999
but once they hooked up with fergie for elephunk the collaboration worked, but by the time monkey business came out I didn't think they were that great anymore and getting too much hype

What's your opinion? The first 3 albums were/are good IMO. It's the 4th album (Monkey Business) that was a little bit of a letdown. Typical mixed bag of some good and bad songs.

BTW Missfee, The majority of the BEP-hating within Prince.org are really aim directly at Fergie. Hip-Hop purists show a lot more love/respect for BEP's original female vocalist Kim Hill way more than Fergie. [Edited 2/19/07 15:54pm]

I am a pre-Fergie fan however, they seemed to be a bigger deal out here in L.A. than anywhere else before Fergie and after her that got nationwide appeal with the help of the Justin Timberflake collaboration. "Joints and Jam" was my song

Not a fan with or without Fergie. I think Will.I.AM is overrated. He might write some decent lyrics once in a while, but he's not all that. Fergie completely ruined the group.

Some of their stuff is actually pretty good, but putting Fergie out front ruined them. T&A only works for a little while.
