Radiohead hasn't really redefined music or created some new genre or anything like that, but they are an incredible band who are very talented and passionate about their music, and it shows on their albums.
Thom's voice on tracks like The Tourist and How To Dissappear Completely, really spooks me at times and gives me chills. I think the main reason people hold them in such high regard is because they're one of the few bands out there that actually takes the time to write decent songs and experiment with different sounds. They can also be appreciated for avoiding the "celebrity" status.

What can I even say about this.

i can't really speak for radiohead...i'm one of those people who LOVES ok computer and who REALLY LIKES kid a/amnesiac and IS OKAY WITH hail to the thief...but i think their formula/sound is wearing thin. i didn't like thom yorke's solo album at all, because it just sounded like a generic approximation of a radiohead album to me. i know a lot of people who love it, though, and i know a lot of people who are rabid about radiohead. and even when i'm less than plussed with the band, i'm in favor of them being successful, cuz better them than someone like fergie or some rehashed blingsta rapper.
as for bjork, i do think she's amazing. i think there's very little distance between her imagination and her output. i think she strives for originality more for the sake of creating something new than for the sake of being precious or trendy. i think she is a true entertainer in that she approaches every aspect of what she does in a way that is interesting, from album art to videos to tours to whatEVER. and she's very much personally involved in all that stuff. i think she's incredibly professional and very passionate about her music. i think she's a little insane and has a good sense of humor about herself. i think if you listen to an album like 'vespertine' and only hear yelps and yowlps, you're not listening with both ears. in fact, i think that's one of her most vocally restrained albums. there is SO MUCH GOING ON in that album, i still find it a little staggering. i can understand if her voice isn't everyone's cup of tea, but i think if people really knew how involved bjork is in her music - the look of it, the sound of it, everything about it - and how long she's been at it, and how trained she is as a musician - it would be hard not to be impressed.
