I remember seeing her on Soul Train, singing that song In the summer of '82.She was on fire during that summer! Her previous hit "Love Come Down" was huge and then she followed it up with another big hit "Betcha She Don't Love You".
Let's try to guess what other songs we will hear on this episode... "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" by Gap Band "So Fine" by Howard Johnson "Hard To Get" by Rick James "Love Is In Control" by Donna Summer

Are you sure "High Rise" was out in the summer of '82? I think that song is actually from 1983.
In the summer of '82,Ashford and Simpson had the hit "Street Corner" on any street....any street corner...on any street....any street corner

this was the follow-up to their spring '82 smash "You're The One For Me" Is that one kinda midtempo? I think I have that one on a 12 Inch, or maybe it's one called "Walk On By" or something. Hell, I don't know because I never listen to the A Side. I strictly bought the 12 Inch for the B Side called "D Train", which is a very uptempo funky ass track....."get up on the funky D Train".....it's the dub version though but it absolutely slams. Andy is a four letter word.

I remember when "Love Is In Control" came out and the magazines were saying she had become a born again Christian. The next year when "She Works Hard For The Money" came out, I said...."That bitch ain't no Christian"....later I saw the video. Andy is a four letter word.

I remember seeing her in concert back in 1984. She opened for
the Barkays,Kool & the Gang. Was late getting to the show and she was already performing this song. It sounds much better live. Of course, as always she brought down the house with love come down. I will enjoy watching her on soul train tomorrow. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I misheard the first verse... I guess I missed the target...caught up in a DIFFERENT NINE TO FIVE she's really saying "a different line of fire"

I just saw the episode
It was apparently taped in late 82.They played mostly songs that were from the winter of 82..."I'm Freaky" by Obryan,"Too Tough" by Angela Bofill, etc. I can't believe they played Prince's "Lady Cab Driver"
