Shit! Pharrell can play the muthafucka out of those drums. Just a shame he doesn't do that on his records. Imagine how much better he'd be as a recording artist if he laid down beats like that on an acoustic kit, just like he's doing on the video, instead of sampling and using drum machines.

This stuff is shocking for two reasons:

1. If Prince had been in the studio, he could have played a 10 min guitar solo over that beat, followed by a 10 min piano solo. For Just-so Pimp-my-lake, it's just some stuff he plays which is normally used in elementary school to teach kids rhythm, and he even struggles doing that. Yet, he's a worldwide superstar these days.

2. If Pharrell can play drums like that, why in the world does he do all that weak-ass drum machine bullshit?

Maybe that's why I think that "Like I Love You" is one of the best JT tracks... biggrin

In most of the "Making Of Justified" he's sitting in another room eating and playing video games, while Chad or Pharrell flesh out every arrangement.

Sometimes Justin sits beside them while they make his album, I guess to keep them company.

Pharrell is re-releasing his album with live instruments. ?uestlove is co-producing it. The "new" version of Number One is on youtube
