When commercials use artists that can't get played on the radio.

I find it odd that you have to go to a car commercial or pop ad to hear a good song by the Ramones or Feist. I heard Feist on a bank commercial yesterday, a fucking bank commercial!! Radio doesn't play Feist or the Ramones. I have no idea why corporate America is getting so eclectic; must be the hip young ad execs. lol.

Shows you just how sad and pathetic modern radio is.

Radio is playlist based and corrupt.

I just heard Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings in a Kraft commercial.

It pissed me off because she is FUNK but nobody knows about it. The positive is that at least now someone who hears it may look into who did that funky song in that commercial.

The The is used for M & M's now. I have no problem with the songs being used since the artists involved hopefully had a say in the songs being used and are getting compensated for it. Plus, it's a bit of exposure that they may not have gotten before. I was introduced to Goldfrapp by a commercial. I learned of Tally Hall from watching The O.C. (DON'T JUDGE ME!) But, if it's just some corporation that owns the music that's trying to make a buck and the artist isn't getting what they deserve then I have a problem.

Radio has nothing at all to do with quality of music anymore and hasn't for a long time now. I went through a couple 100 of my CDs one day and noted my favorite song or 2 on the album and also what song(s) were released to the radio and they rarely coincided.

Well i think John Mellencamp said it best two weeks ago when he was on the Jimmy Kimmel show for two nights, Jimmy asked him about the "Our Country" being a chevy commercial, and John said "he stills does think its wrong to sell songs for commercials, BUT, with Radio and Tv/Media being the way it is, this is the only way he can get heard sometimes", he continued to say, its very easy to be "noble" when you get played on the radio and mtv 24/7, but for him and other older artists there really isnt an outlet.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
