I love me some Robbie, too.

It saddens me that lots of people get fooled by his stage persona and goes on 2 call him a twat, when he is so NOT.

he's fucked up and insecure as hell in the inside, but has to put up this whole act on public to hide behind it.

It's all in his biography, "Feel",, really really amazing read, i strongly recommend it for anybody who wants to know the real Robbie.

I don't know much about him personally, but it does seem that he has very genuine emotions and self-doubts, and the fact that he's just gone into rehab for prescription drugs (supposedly anti-depressants) both saddens me (that he needs rehab) and pleases me (that he might finally get clean).

I saw him in the early solo days, a few weeks after his first album was released, at Glasgow Barrowlands - after being dragged there by a friend who paid for the ticket, I thought it was a fantastic show, and made sure that I would buy each album from then on. Personally, I think a lot of Escapology and Intensive Care is filler, but his other albums (including Rudebox) are, for the most part, very strong. And his b-sides can be surprisingly good, too.

i really like Robbie's music and he has a pretty cool stage presence but of course other than a hit with Angels he never gets played here in the U,S

Speaking of self-doubt,,

Live 8 definitely did it for me. It was his 1st appearance before his native audiance in over 2 years and Lord @ the fear on his face when he stepped on the stage.

It was so obvious but they received him just amazingly. And surly he gave them a spectacular performance in return.

Definitely one of my highlights of the event.

As for the U.S, not only they only play Angels, but a Jessica Simpson butchering remake was made,,

Every once in a while here in the US, I'll hear Better Man, Feel or Let Me Entertain You, but other than that, it's just Angels.

Rudebox is turning out to be my favorite album of his (and I love his cover of Lovelight), followed by Sing When You're Winning.

For a lot of casual fans, the lack of his typical mixture of pop ballads & stadium rock is probably an immediate turn off. There's more of a sophisticated and experimental feel here and so it's less mainstream than what would be expected of Robbie.

I think he has a couple of good songs and this is definitely one of them. The ending kicks much ass, especially live. Very dramatic, without being unwillingly comical, IMO.
