Yeah, especially the ones with bonus tracks nod

Most of the CDs is easy to find, but "Skywriter/Get It Together" is oop, and quite expensive.

Hit the second-hand shop after work, and might have gone a little over the top...

The thrill of the evening was without a doubt finding the first two Scud Mountain Boys albums. I am a huge Joe Pernice fan regardless of what he calls himself (Pernice Brothers, Chappaquidick Skyline, Scud Mountain Boys, solo), and these two albums were the only gaps in my collection:

sad There are a boatload of Gap Band compilations, but you picked one of the worst. If you want more (and why wouldn't you? smile), go with one of these:

1. Gold - the only 2-disc set, it's the best at the moment
2. Ultimate Collection - almost all of the hits, but they're the shorter single versions
3. The Best of Gap Band - missing a lot of great songs, but it has the major ones in their uncut glory (including some 12" versions)

I know the 20th Century Masters comps are very spotty and not to be considered comprehensive, but it was only $1.50. I'll consider it a taster to see if I need to pursue it any further.

But let's not forget the real exciting news - I found the first two Scud Mountain Boys albums!!! Fuck me!!! I can barely contain myself!

Okay, I fully appreciate that this means absolutely nothing to anybody else in the world (except perhaps Mendescity, because he's a Pernice Brothers fan). I'll move on... lol

I've bought a lot, but here's the very latest:

Old School Jams: Gold
After '80s Dance: Gold, this is Hip-O's second straight masterpiece. Like that one, this compilation features fantastic 12" versions (or album-lenghth tracks). Currently, it's a Circuit City exclusive. Check out this tracklist:

1. Brick House (12" Version) - The Commodores
2. She's a Bad Mama Jama (She's Built, She's Stacked) (12" Version) - Carl Carlton
3. Super Freak (12" Version) - Rick James
4. Let It Whip (12" Version) - Dazz Band
5. Cutie Pie - One Way
6. Too Hot to Stop (Part 1) - Bar-Kays
7. Love Rollercoaster - Ohio Players
8. Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off) - Parliament
9. Shake Your Pants (12" Version) - Cameo
10. Shame (12" Version) - Evelyn "Champagne" King
11. I'm a Sucker for Your Love (12" Version) - Teena Marie
12. All Night Long (12" Version) - Mary Jane Girls
13. Get the Funk Out Ma Face (12" Version) - The Brothers Johnson

1. The Payback - James Brown
2. Think (About It) - Lyn Collins (The Female Preacher)
3. Pass the Peas - The J.B.'s
4. Car Wash - Rose Royce
5. Tell Me Something Good - Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
6. I Want'a Do Something Freaky to You - Leon Haywood
7. Joy and Pain - Maze featuring Frankie Beverly
8. September - Earth, Wind & Fire
9. Get Down on It (12" Version) - Kool & The Gang
10. Just Got Paid (12" Version) - Johnny Kemp
11. Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me) - Gap Band
12. Let's Get Serious - Jermaine Jackson
13. She's Just a Groupie (12" Version) - Bobby Nunn

From what I've heard, Do It ('Til You're Satisfied) is pretty much the only good B.T. Express album. Rhino has released a greatest hits comp, which is probably worth checking out if you're interested in B.T. Express.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

WHy is it that whenever these threads get started people always feel compelled to list bands nobody's heard of? confuse

It's like it's trendy to list bands like Scud Mountain Boys or the Jackson 5. Who the hell are they?
