NKOTB vs New Edition I think it's pretty safe to say that NKOTB are the white version of NE but who did you prefer? I liked them both but for me NE has more staying power.

NE made hits in three different decades, and spawned careers Bobby Brown, BBD, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant, each of whom had a little or a lot of success. They had better singers. NKOTB may have -- MAY have -- made more money, but on the merits there is no contest. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

girl stop playing.
New Kids on the Block were atrocious. None of them could sing. They were completely manufactured.

There is no comparison. NKOTB were only hot for a second. The they fell off real quick like the Backstreet Boys, N-Sync. O-Town and the rest of the boy groups who came after them. New Edition in my opinion had more talent then all these groups put together.

New Kids on the Block were atrocious. None of them could sing. They were completely manufactured. They were both "manufactured" by the same person - Maurice Starr. New Edition started singing together before Starr came around, but they went nowhere until he shepherded them. As far as singing goes, I think Jordan was a better singer than anyone in either group. But as a whole, it's no contest - New Edition had better, more infectious material. They also came along at a better time on the pop/R&B music scene.

Did any of you see that reality show he was on trying to hit some sour ass high note. Man, he sounded like a hit dog.

I've never been in to either group, really. Johnny G helped out NE alot in the vocal department though and it wasn't until he joined that I paid them serious attention but I've never been into him as a solo artist.
I do think Jordan Knight has a good voice though. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

But as a whole, it's no contest - New Edition had better, more infectious material. They also came along at a better time on the pop/R&B music scene. Johnny Gill was clearly the best singer out of either group, IMO, and Ricky Bell -- who mostly developed as the lead singer of Bell Biv DeVoe -- was also a cut above most of the others, with Ralph Tresvant's Michael Jackson-inspired vocal style also clocking in. New Edition also needs to get credit not only for their material (most notably the "Heartbreak" album), but they all developed their own personalities and styles. If I'm not mistaken, they are the only act in U.S. popular music where every member garnered a platinum album as solo acts. [Edited 2/14/07 18:24pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I thought Jordan had a good voice, until
a) I saw him recording on Surreal Life b) I watched some live performances on Youtube to reinforce this.

Shame he never went through puberty.

Ralph Tresvant...by himself...is a better and more natural high-note vocalist than Jordan Knight could ever be. As as for the best singer in either group, TWO WORDS: Johnny Gill http://www.youtube.com/wa...tAJIIZ8mgc
