SoulAlive

No contest.New Edition wins lol

New Kids On The Block were a manufactured boy group, singing disposable late-80s pop crap. They were basically an early version of N'Sync,Backstreet Boys and all those other terrible boy bands that came out in the late 90s.These groups (and their songs) are now completely forgotten. There was nothing soulful or genuine about these groups.

New Edition,on the other hand, have alot more credibility. They actually created a solid body of work and a string of successful R&B singles that are now considered classics."Cool It Now","Mr.Telephone Man","Is This The End","A Little Bit Of Love (Is All It Takes)","Jealous Girl","If It Isn't Love" and "Lost In Love" are some of the finest R&B hits of the 80s.Like the Jacksons in the 70s,New Edition was a legitimate boy group, not some manufactured gimmick designed to last for just a few albums.Hell,I think New Edition is still touring to this day.

They were both "manufactured" by the same person - Maurice Starr. New Edition started singing together before Starr came around, but they went nowhere until he shepherded them. As far as singing goes, I think Jordan was a better singer than anyone in either group.

But as a whole, it's no contest - New Edition had better, more infectious material. They also came along at a better time on the pop/R&B music scene.

Are you f***ing shyting me?!?!? eek disbelief lol Ralph Tresvant...by himself...is a better and more natural high-note vocalist than Jordan Knight could ever be.

No, I'm not f***ing shyting you?!?! eek disbelief lol Ralph sings through his nose and sounds like a little boy.

As as for the best singer in either group,
TWO WORDS: Johnny Gill

I think we should look at what the aftermath effects from both groups are.

New Kids - A brother who starred in 3 Kings, The Italian Job & The Departed.

New Edition - A brother who starred in a reality show in which he's married to a cracked out Whitney.

The entertaiment value of both sides indicates that there are no losers here.

Granted, Ralph use to sing just like THAT for NE's debut album, Candy Girl (He was the Michael Jackson of the group for crying out loud! lol). But Ralph ended up singing natural full-time for NE's self-titled second album. wink
