I am a bit more adventurous, mayhaps. I wanna hear her wail over guitars and divine electronic bleeps.

I dunno. I like Tori to try new things. But for the past decade, I've found Trent to be incredibly boring. I never buy his shit anymore.

Yer serious? You didn't like The Fragile? Wow...

Try playing "Into The Void" again and report back, please... I can TOTALLY hear Tori sing those lyrics.

I haven't bought any NIN since The Downward Spiral and its EP's other than...The Downward Spiral reissue.

i've heard a few other people say the same thing about tori, that she takes herself too seriously.

i don't get why they think this. in interviews she's actually really funny, and on stage she can be hilarious. a sense of humor is one thing ol' girl is not lacking. she makes fun of herself all the time. i don't know, i guess i just have a different idea of what taking yourself too seriously means.

Maybe because she's so hardcore about her work itself. shrug

It's part of what makes me dig deeper and do the research with her work. When I don't get something, she makes me want to understand.

Brilliant interview!!! I friggin' love it! Thanks so much!

I TOTALLY agree with what she's saying about the box set being taken as it is. I didn't have the cash for it when it was released, and had to wait until my wife gave it to me for my birthday. Well, I personally feel it was well worth the wait! I wouldn't have wanted to have gotten the songs I was missing off of iTunes, because I would have really been missing out on the fascinating way that she chose to present these songs (not to mention the fantastic booklet! *swoon*). This compilation is really its own body of work, and I find it is far more satisfying to take it as a whole. Now, I'm not saying that I haven't gone and made my own playlists on my iPod, as that is part of the fun of it, but I wouldn't have wanted to experience this box set for the first few listens in any way other than how Tori chose to release it.

have you seen the interview from rollingstone.com (its from early 2006). she talks about writing the new cd and the subject matter she's working with. it may have been posted here already so i don't want to repost it if everyone's seen it.
