I have been avoiding this thread until the west coast broadcast. I thought The Police sounded great. I am looking forward to this tour.
Nice to see Tony and Stevie win one (although i thought it was kind of weird when Tony pimped his sponsor, Target, right after Stevie almost broke down honoring his deceased mother. ) [Edited 2/11/07 20:11pm] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

The Police were AWESOME! They still have it! They sounded as great as they did back in the day (or at least as great as they did on that double live record they put out!) I'm glad they did just one song instead of a medley, and I'm glad they jammed on it a bit. Playing off of and with each other was always one of their hallmarks as a band and I'm glad tonight's performance captured that.
The thing with John Legend, CB Rae, and John Mayer was pretty good too. John Mayer really tore it up, and CB and John Legend were great too, though a little aenemic. I like that they played on each other's tunes. The James Brown Tribute was AWFUL! Christina WAAAAYYY oversung. Honestly, I don't think she actually sang more than a couple bars of the actual melody of the song. I think the same about her as I would about a guitar player who plays too many notes at an inappropriate time. She's got a great voice, but she sings everything like it's an American Idol audition. She needs to chill it out, a LOT! Also, I don't know how they went from Smokey Robinson and Lionel Richie to CHRIS BROWN! I think had they put John Legend in that spot it woulda made more sense, but Chris Brown's performance next to Lionel and Smokey was like ground chuck next to porterhouse steak. It was basically a dance routine, he hardly sang! :WTF: I also liked the part where the Academy president said something about "If we had to stop giving out the award for best new artist because there weren't any..." Cracked me up!

I saw that! Not HALF as irritating as target's "Hello GoodBUY" - Lennon and Harrison would cringe if they were alive... I hope Paul and Ringo are. Damn that Michael Jackson! VOTE....EARLY

It's actually a very good album. The Dixie Chicks were run-of-the-mill Nashville product when they first started, but their last two albums were excellent, roots-based country.

For real! There was more post-show praise for Prince's 12 min Superbowl glory, than this whole show I missed alot of it, and I can't even find clips on youtube of the highlights If you will, so will I

It really wasnt a memorable show at all, the performances for the most part were just OK and some were awful. The Justin and the Unknown girl duet was a total joke, this isnt American Idol, what is this Bullshit, A poll to pick a unknown to perform on the most honored music award? And then they have the nerve to have the "grammy head guy" come out and preach about Music in Schools and they give a chance to some unknown girl because they won a popularity contest, talk about a double standard, no wonder kids would rather take the quit road as oppose to actual learn the music skills. Basically i didnt watch the show i just ffwd through it and jumped in on parts i knew would be disasters. Kanye West and Common, im glad someone finally said something to that moron. Christina Aguilera, well i said it 2 days before it happend, i knew she would "oversing", what the hell was that? And then Chris Brown doing a "little jig" to show he "knows" James was a bigger joke, and shows how sad RB has become. The Dixie Chicks, honestly im glad they won, mainly because they got shit on by everyone in that room, with the exception of Don Henley and John Mellencamp and Springsteen, for their comments, they werent even invited to these award shows in the previous two years because of what they said, AND NO ONE had the balls to stick up for them in previous years with the exception of the 3 artists i named, all the rest, pure cowards. Once again the question if Shakira is Dancing and Wyclef is rapping how come 95% of his performance was not live? The few things i liked, John Mayers playing, and yes John Legend though some say he's boring, however, i know Corrine Bailey is getting tons of praise but her vocals at least live are so flat, this is the second time i have heard her live and she sounds very flat vocally. Everything else i could take or leave, really did nothing for me. I did like Don Henley at the end, yet another funny moment, he was named Man of the Year and yet in previous years he too was on the "SHIT" list for his comments about labels and the industry, which is why when Scarlett Johannsen asked him for advice about music business, he just said "NO" and shut his mouth but you can tell he was ready to rip some heads off.
But to me i find myself just checking out which ladies looked the hottest and really not caring about what the Grammys puts up there to perform, cause i know, most of it Im not going to like. So all in all heres my review. GOOD The Police- though too short John Mayers- solos Lionel Richie- though i didnt really understand it just glad it was nothing from his new album Common and the rest of audience laughing at Kanye West Bon Jovi finally winning a Grammy 25 years later Not having to hear Justin make an acceptance speech BAD Christina Aguilera- great voice but stop it already!! cool down! Corrine Bailey- flat vocals Chris Brown- you do two steps and you think you know James Brown? Justin Timberlake and the "contest winner" WHY? this isnt american idol Justin Timberlake-the camera crap WYCLEF-why cant he sing/rap live?? hes not dancing, Shakira is, but she is live. not the first time he's done this, every award show with this song hes not been live. Take it or leave it The rest of the show Some of the best stuff came at the parties and the days before the show it seems.
