Right now there are 3 women that are creating amazing POP music in the style of what POP is. And no those 3 women arent Beyonce,Christina and Mariah. They would be Latina Artists Shakira,Thalia and Paulina Rubio. Paulina's Latest Latin cd called "Ananda" is eaily the most solid POP album of the last year.The album already has passed 3 million sold worldwide, increasing Paulina past the the 35 million mark worldwide in her career as a solo artist. She has been a roll since coming out of a semi-retirement between 1995-2000, since then here 4 albums "Paulina","Border Girl (english-spanish)", "Pau-Latina" and now "Ananda" have combined to sell close to 20 million alone.

What makes "Ananda" a great POP album is its mix of styles, but also making it catchy so like a good POP song you remember right away but dont tire of it. The first single from Ananda "Ni Una Sola Palabra" was an instant no.1 for her, the new single "Nada puede cambiarme" is headed the same place, and features guitar solos from SLASH, who also is in the video. Knowing Paulina there will be 5-6 singles from this album since thats how many were on the last 3 albums. Another fave track "Mienteme una vez mas" this song blows out the speakers with its solos of Rock and Pop, just a classic power ballad. "HOY" is a track no one will get out of their head after they hear it, timbaland would dream he could steal a beat like it. "TU y YO" is a crazy guitar track mixed with dance, and a very frantic vocal by Paulina. The thing i love about Paulinas voice is that is Natural/Raw, it doesnt sound layered like other pop artists in the american market. And the final track "Sin Final" is just that, yu cant just imagine credits rolling and Paulina riding off into the sunset in mexico, which i heard is how she wrote the song. With that said this furthers proof that there is more creativity going on in Latin Music than Ameican Music, mainly because American Music is driven by kids and Latin Music is driven by more established artists, usually in their late 20's and 30's. With the exception of Reggaeton which is just a waste of time at this point: artists like Juanes,mana,Alejandro Sanz,Paulina,Shakira,Thalia and many more are light years ahead.

That i would have to disagree with, the fact that this is a great POP album doesnt mean its Britney Spears like, we forget what POP is because no one has been able to really do it anymore. POP isnt what sells, its songs perfectly crafted. Thats what you easily get on this record. So Latin Pop is alot different than what we call POP in america. Like i said with the exception of Reggaeton music which is just as bad as american rap music today, The top Latin Artists seem to clearly overshadow americas top artists.

The other day SHAKIRA turned 30 and someone here on an American Video show said "Wow i didnt realize she was old like that". The Latin Market isnt run by teenagers, there are very few artists getting play that are of that "teen early 20's genre" probably the only one would be RBD. But i clearly have more respect for the Latin Artists because that market is not treated the way it should be, it generates much more money than alot of markets in the US, and yet it had to form its own Grammy show because it was cut down to 4 awards in the Grammy field. I think people forget that it was the likes of Emilio Estefan that fought for that right to their own show, which some may disagree, but i think is well deserved, since there are so many different forms of latin music. The list is endless of the Latin Artists i like, but I would say Shakira and Paulina would be my top ones.

I still think that Paulina is manufactured product...and a very generic and salt-less. Her early albums are atrocious. And her career is starting to decline...just like Thalia's

For example Fey's Vertigo is probably the best pop latin album I ever heard...and it was a flop!

Its funny because the complaints i have heard from people on Shakira and Paulina are identical.

On a different note what did you think of Emilio Estefans revamped MSM (Miami Sound Machine) they tried it from 2000-2004 they had two good albums, alot of success in Latin Countries but over here in america nothing could get moving, i know Emilio was not happy with Sony about that, then the group disbanded mainly because they couldnt get backing in the US, quite sad, i liked them good style and know one of the girls.
