Cher - "Main man"

"You're my main man
Paid the gypsy to keep prayin'
I'll keep a candle lit for love
And watch the street
For you from up above"

Cher recorded plenty of good songs in the 80s, and this is one of my favorites music

Jesse James isn't bad. I liked Main Man when I was a teenager but I revisted it as an adult when I bought the album and just thought it was cheese

Have you heard the "Heart of stone" album?
Are there many good songs there besides the hits?

All the hits are good - If I Could Turn Back Time, Jesse James, Heart of Stone (I think this one was a single anyway), After All. Otherwise, You Wouldn't Know Love, All Because of You and Does Anybody Really Fall in Love Anymore are pretty good. I guess your ability to enjoy it depends on whether or not you have a pension for 80s pop-rock, because it's pretty dated.

As a whole, I think I prefer the '87 Cher release. I Found Someone is the better than anything on Heart of Stone.

Time for a shocking confession:

I love Cher.

I own:

It's A Man's World
Believe
Living Proof
Live - The Farewell Tour
The Very Best of Cher (the kick-ass 2 disc version!)

boxed

And my current Cher-vorite tune is "The Gunman". I even made a thread about it a few months ago. boxed

I dug that whole "Cher" record. It had a lots of different types of songs, although it mostly "faux-metal" as GangstaFam pointed out. Gotta love Cher doing her best with a Madonna club cut, "Skin Deep".

I have the "Stars" album and it's pretty good. Most fans say it's her best...not sure about that but it deserved better than it got (it did lousy on the charts...the first of her four Warners albums in the seventies to do so). I guess I would describe the sound as Califronia rock with a twist of soul. Lots of background vocals, which can be a distraction but they are blended in nicely. She covers Neil Young and others. "I'd Rather Believe In YOu" is pretty good, too.

That LP is very hard to find, i`m still looking. I`m also curious about "Man and a woman", "Cherisded" and the one you mentioned, "I`d rather believe in you"

One of my very favorite Cher interpretations, her take on The Way of Love. She was so beautiful back then.

Great clip nod

She has a way with ballads and standards... Her "Bittersweet white light" album is amazing worship

I think I found the two LPs at Encore with little fuss and not a high price, either. THey tend to have just about everything and I don't think they overcharge for rarer LPs.

Sorry. Encore is a record store in Ann Arbor. It's excellent and packed with used LPs. There are a few others in town but I don't think anyone touches Encore.

Finding LPs here is impossible, especially the more rare albums...

I only know of one norwgian website. I`ve used them a few times, but they have a lousy selection disbelief
