I don't like the shuffle feature. lol I always use my mp3 player on my walk to and from work. It's about a 15 minute walk, and for some reason mine always manages to play one of the 25:00 minute instrumental music suites (from one of many film scores) right away so that I can't even listen to one full song on my walk.

i LIVE for shuffle mode. it's why i need to have an mp3 player with lots of space on it. i like having tons of music for shuffle play. it's like having my own radio station - if i don't like the programming, it's my own damn fault!

i have about 8,000 songs on my player and there are many tracks i've yet to hear...so there's always an opportunity for a surprise when i'm listening on shuffle. i love it!

can't you just hit skip? that happens to me too, when i'm bopping down the street on my way to the train and all of a sudden "discreet music" or some shit comes on. i just skip to the next shuffle treat.

I can, but you know what? I'm fucking lazy. lol I don't wanna reach down, adjust the HOLD button, hit skip, hit the HOLD button again, put it back in my pocket. It's real tough. I need Angelina Jolie to advocate for me.

I still don't have an ipod or mp3 player so it really never made sense to shuffle on a 12 track cd lol But I have archived a lot of my music collection and it starts in the shuffle mode when I plug it in and the first track I heard was something I am totally unfamiliar with, even though it is in my collection falloff

Worst invention ever. Songs are meant to be heard in the order that artists intended on their albums only--not as part of some big catchall goulash that will give you indigestion. mad

Like I said...lazy. boxed In my lazy defense, mostly it's an issue on day's like today when I also have to take my hand out of my big bulky glove and expose it to the sub-zero temperatures.

And I agree with sexton - I like order to my music. Shuffle throws me off. I shouldn't go from Centipede to Eat Me Alive.

My shuffle always seems to play the same 30 or so songs over and over again. I have over like 700 songs on the damn thing but i always end up FF to get to something else.

Even on the off day when I'm actually in the mood to hear multiple artists, the home made comps I play have had lots of thought (I'm talking weeks) put into what the specific order of the songs should be--taking into account instruments, melody, beats per minute, and overall style of the aritsts. Only after all those are factored into the mix, can I make a final playlist. Songs shouldn't be allowed to roam willy-nilly amongst each other with the press of a shuffle button. No wonder the earth is in such sad shape today.

nod It's true. The earth's temperature increases .00001° every time somebody uses shuffle.

OK, I have 32 personal mixes where I have contemplated all you explained and I have 5 ready to go if I can get my burner up and running with 4 more mixes in work. I was making a funk CD and someone recommended a song that was funky, but the lyrics....there was no way I could put such a heavy ass song on a disc that was more focused on musical style than substance lol Couldn't ever put it on a mix until I found companion songs, eventually I did.

OK, have you ever ruined an album experience becuse of using songs from it on a killer mix? Sometimes I'll be listining to :insertalbumhere: and I've become accustomed to hearing the song from the mix I made and when it doesn't come I feel a disappointment.

pffft. more often than not, there's something to be said for the randomness of a shuffle mix. i've had songs play back to back that i wouldn't even dream of putting together, but the combinations were downright inspiring.

then again, my music OCD is usually confined to just making sure my collection is alphabetized at all times. shrug

No, because 90% of the time the song used in one of my mixtapes is a remix or 7" edit. Can't waste valuable comp space with a song that I already have elsewhere.

You want to know how bad I am? All the bills in my wallet must be in order from highest denomination to lowest, all facing the same way, none upside down, etc.

I never enjoy it. I like my albums to flow well. Even when I make CD's of my own of different artists songs I arrange them in an order that would sound good instead of just being random
