It's not like they'll ever put these classic funk videos on the regular VH-1 anytime soon. disbelief

You can still watch the "Glow" video, with Slick Rick at his acting pinnacle:

THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I really wish people would band together and boycott ViaCon! Dont watch anything they put on, or buy any of their artists, or listen to any of their stations. Just think how much they would lose if everyone did that for a week!
This whole YouTube think makes me realize that artists need to get together and start their form of protest against viacon.

I feel Prince was equally happy watching his one-time rival become a declining act (while his "Purple Rain" movie and album catapulted him to levels Slick Rick never reached) who later started imitating him.

It is a ridiculous Purple Rain rip-off and Rick couldn't act at all, but could the acting segment of this video be something that can be in the upcoming Rick James biopic? It seems like this could be a scene from the "rumored" biopic even though it has the real Rick James acting and it is from 1985.

Wow this shit is making me more and more upset. I knew once YouTube was bought this would happen. My problem is that NO station plays anything new or old. Mtv,Vh1,and Bet are nothing more than reality shows gone wild. Now if they wanna show a couple of regular shows besides videos sometimes, ok, but they dont stop there. MTV shows a total of 6 hours of Videos a week, thats less than an hour a day. Vh1 shows the most at this point, but they are blocked in the time frame of 3-9am. BET, well they are in the middle but their blocks of Vids are the same everyday, its like someone presses a button and leaves it running over and over. Remember the good old days when you would pop a tape in the vcr and tape 6 hours of videos from MTV and get nothing but videos, old, new, no Vjs or at least when you had vj's they werent talking that long.

Iwas explaining to someone the other day i was waiting to see the new AMERIE video, it was delivered to BET and they usually would start running it, well BET has this show in the middle of the day, basically about 3-4 hours of videos. During the week in that block they showed Beyonce "listen" 16 times!! of course no new Amerie video and yet it was on their playlist. My problem with all these Video Networks, is that that arent Music networks, right now when i want a video i have to watch IMF which shows vids 24/7 from around the world, and doesnt let any artist monopolize its playlist. Im hoping artists band together and fight Viacon.

Well, get ready y'all because Rick's gonna be on "Soul Train" a week from today performing "Big Time". That's gonna be one to add to the collection.

1. Had Google didn't take the risk by purchasing YouTube, none of us would be having this discussion because YouTube would have been out of business due to too many potential lawsuits it couldn't handle alone, IMO.

2. I wonder if there are other YouTube-like sites out there. I only know of Bolt.

At least the producers of Soul Train haven't said anything negative (yet?) about the YouTube Community. They were uploading old VHS tapings of the show for awhile now. biggrin

I haven't noticed the damage done by Viacom. I just saw a music video on there and I could've sworn it was from VH1 Classic or something.

I had a good number of videos save within a "favorite" folder on my account. Some of those videos were removed because of of the MTV/VH-1 logos. But a good few videos without the logos were removed because the video quality were the same. confused

The thing that bothers me is how much of media that Viacon controls, more than 3/4 of what is in the USA is controlled by them, havent seen a monopoly like that since Germany in the late 1930's.

Rick acting was worst and the sad thing is you can find a concert on DVD from Germany were he really is drinking Jack Daniel on stage.

He could not even act like himself (LOL)

You should hear his side of the story about Prince ripping him off of the "Purple Rain" story lol that he came up with that 1st and prepaired to do a movie about it.

God rest my brotha's soul in heaven(or hell),,,,but he was in his MOST paranoid mood when Prince was in the picture.
