the only tracks I don't like from the album are stay and pretender. The early version of Stay done with S. Bray is miles better

You pulled off the fake hate very well!

And I definitely agree about the early "Stay" - a million times better.

I still can't believe why the album version of Love don't live here anymore doesn't get more cred. Few people like it...which is a shame.

At least here in Portugal, the album came with Into the groove include. I'm still sticking with the non-remastered version because of it

I don't have the remaster either. But I want it.

I think they just worked out some of the kinks on the later versions of "Love Don't Live".

The only remaster I own is the one of True Blue. I plan in buying the one of the first album soon...because of the extended version of Burning Up.

It's shame because these remasters where a wasted oportunities...compared them with the ones the cure and siouxsie and the banshees are doing! sad

Yeah, really. She should've had all of the single material as the bonus discs.

And I'm lovin' the new avvie. biggrin

Wow...no other big fans on here agree there has been a problem with quality control for Madonna Inc for a few years now.

It all started with that god awful "edited" version of the AL video. The RIT was a tossed together, half-assed, karaoke rendition of her "greatest hits" (except for Burning Up and Deeper and Deeper, her two best songs).
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Oh, and while COAD is overall a great album, the sound quality is very muddy and the mix is not very clean.

lol you're funny

I can't really complain because, despite a few disappointments here and there, Maddy has given us alot in the last several years.

***3 world tours
***3 albums,1 remix album
***Drowned World Tour DVD
***'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret' DVD/Live CD
***'Confessions Tour DVD/Live CD

and now there's talk of a new album for 2007 and a possible tour for 2008.I mean,really....that's ALOT lol It's certainly more than other pop stars (Janet,Michael) are giving their fans these days.

lol

The Re-Invention Tour was a stunning spectacle, and it wasn't your typical "greatest hits tour" at all.

the 'IGTTYAS' Live CD,which I hardly ever listen to.

see, I am not alone

That live CD is not very exciting and it doesn't even include the best songs that were played on that tour (such as "Deeper and Deeper" and "Burning Up").The Confessions Live CD,however,is excellent! It includes the full "Future Lovers/I Feel Love" medley.....the "Sorry" remix that was used as an interlude duing the show....and best of all,the sizzling version of "Erotica/You Thrill Me" which is fast becoming a fan favorite. If you don't buy this DVD/CD set,you should still find a way to obtain the live disc.

it was billed a greatest hits tour to get people to buy tickets, but she did 9 of the 11 tracks from American Life.

was i on something when i saw the show? i remember FIVE songs performed live from AL:

Nobody Knows Me
American Life
Die Another Day
Nothing Fails
Mother & Father.

Intervention doesn't count. That was like half a verse tossed in the middle of NF. She didn't even do the two best songs on that album: Hollywood and Love Profusion. Hollywood was an interlude with a dance mix that was totally "instrumental" (ie no Madonna on stage, no "singing" any of the words). Im So Stupid didn't make the cut once the show opened if I remember correctly. Thankfully she was smart enough not to waste 3 minutes of a $300 show on that bullshit piece of shit song Xstatic Process. Easy Ride would have been nice tho.

ok it was 7 not 9, but it is more than Prince did off Musicology when he went on his greatest hits tour. Madge could have ignored all of American Life and everyone would have been happy but she didn't. She gave her current album the most tracks. And yes i count Hollywood as a song performered regardless if she was on stage or not. Just like the Beast Within during the Girlie Show and Paradise and the What It Feels Like For a Girl and Don't Cry For Me interludes on DWT and Bedtime Stories during RIT. They are important transition pieces for the concerts.

oh really? hmmm...if she doesnt even bother coming on the stage for that song to me it means it's just filler, a vamp, something to tide the audience over for her next grand costume change. whatever...i see what you're saying, she didn't ignore AL, but by her standards for tours, her current album only getting 5 songs sung isn't very much. it's no coincidence she pulled out Vogue AND Material Girl AND Papa Dont Preach AND Express Yourself AND Crazy For You while AL was such a bomb...it felt desperate and like too little too late

i think the older songs were pulled out more out of the backlash from the DWT only having 2 songs that dated from before Bedtime Stories and only 4 songs older than Ray of Light.

Yes Hollywood was to some a filler. But it was the transition piece from Matierial Girl to the circus atmosphere of the entertainment world, and all the illusions and allusions it has. That's why we had a three ring circus type peroformance with the Tarrot Card video. Tarrot has Kabbalah references as well and the center piece of that set being Die Another Day and the Lament. Followed by the awaking of Bedtime Stories to the Spiritual set that followed.

some observations about the DVD:

***The performance of "Jump" is much more exciting on the DVD than it was at the actual concert.

***During the bonus footage,we see a scene of Madonna's backup singers rehearsing "I Feel Love" as she sits back and watches.Doesn't Maddy come off a little bitchy when Nicky messes up? lol I was rolling my eyes when Maddy said "It's a clean, straightforward vocal style but if you're not with me,it won't work" rolleyes lol

***isn't the performance of "Paradise (Not For Me)" just great? I like when Maddy sits down with a guitar and does a simple, acoustic segment (similar to "Mother and Father" on the ReInvention tour). For certain songs, she really doesn't need all the dancers and stuff. On future tours, she should add a longer acoustic portion....maybe play a medley of some of her classic hits this way?

***The choreography on this tour is magnificent...much more visually exciting than the last 2 tours.Jamie King really did a superb job putting it all together.Plus, this time around,Madonna had some truly outstanding dancers on board.

***The bonus footage is nice, but there are a few other 'behind the scenes' clips that they could have used.Awhile back,I saw a longer clip which is now posted on YouTube. In addition, they should have included the four videos from 'COADF'.The Coachella performance would have been another cool bonus.

How can a true Madonna fan hate the "Like A Virgin" LP?

I love:

Angel
Love Don't Live Here Anymore
Dress You Up
Shoo Be Doo
Stay

"Stay" is an all time album track classic...the only song that really grates on my nerves is "Pretender." I actually really dig the album for Nile Rogers' production moreso than Madonna's...um...assets she displayed during that time. The mix is great, the instrumentation is spot on...Whoever did the drums on that album was hot.

'Like A Virgin' isn't one of my favorite Madonna albums, but I like all the singles from it."Material Girl","Like A Virgin","Dress You Up" and "Angel" are great pop singles....catchy,fun and hard to resist. If you were around in 1985,you couldn't ignore these songs...they were everywhere! Radio wore out this album. It's the non-singles from this album that aren't very good."Shoo Be Doo" is okay, but I usually just play the singles.Alot of Madonna fans think I'm crazy for saying this, but I don't think she really made GREAT music until the 'Like A Prayer' album. That's the album that made people take notice and realize that she really had something to offer. That's also when I became a true fan, although "Papa Don't Preach" and "Live To Tell" from the previous album captured my attention as well.
