Valentine's Mix CD Weds night my partner and I are having dinner with two other couples at a friends house, and my friend has asked me to provide the music.
I was thinking a mixed CD containing some: Classic R&B smoothe (but not cheesy) Jazz some recent stuff I want it to be somewhat mellow, but not TOOO slow.. I'm looking for "elegant". Also I want to try and avoid songs that are "too obvious", or overplayed.. I want to try and make it a good mix of eras... here's some ideas I have so far as a track listing... I'd love some input and suggestions (especially with some instrumental jazz stuff!!). Thanks all!! Jazz Instrumental Save Room - John Legend Marvin Gaye What Goes Around - Justin Timberlake Run to You - Whitney Houston Jazz Instrumental Dreaming of You - Prince Clouds - Jody Watley Paradise - Sade Miles Davis Diana Ross As - Stevie Wonder A Thousand Beautiful Things - Annie Lennox (or Stay By Me?) Jazz Instrumental Sister Moon - Sting Piano in the Dark - Brenda Russell Just My Imagination - The Temptations Since I've Been Loving You - Corinne Bailey Rae Again - Janet Jackson Jazz Instrumental Sweet Love - Anita Baker [Edited 2/12/07 10:54am]

The only track out of place is Justin's. It's kind of a spiteful joint.

Hey NorthernLad, do you have any Angela Bofill?
I think of warm sensuality when I hear her tunes. "Love In Slow Motion" is a great candlelight dinner album. As is her older stuff.

works 4 me!! Good stuff. Next year, consider Angel by Anita Baker. It'd fit right in there (most of her stuff would, matter of fact).

ok, thats a smooove compilation. Even though you've finalized it, this would be a great "hidden"track:

I had "Sweet Love" originally as the closer, but I just felt I *had* to have some Cassandra on there. I'm not familiar w/ "Angel", though - I'll definitely check it out! I love Anita.

Same as every year, "If Loving You Is Wrong" by Millie Jackson. The "rap" in that song sums up Valentine's Day.....
The worst part is the holidays He has to stay home and play the part of the good and faithful huzband But when he comes in, I start laying it on him I tell him all those sweet things I know his wife hasn't told him I can totally relate to that song. Let those wives and girlfriends have Valentine's Day because I'm not studying no damn flowers and candy. I can wait till the following weekend for some dick and some money.....and leave the candy at home because I don't want to get fat. Andy is a four letter word.
