Same here, based on what I was listening to, not necessarily release date. I'm only listing the non-Prince-related releases cuz you can just assume that they occupied most frequent rotation status from the moment of their release. I tried to keep it down to 1 album, but in some cases couldn't narrow it down further.

Michael Jackson's Thriller, Culture Club's Kissing to Be Clever
 Culture Club's Colour by Numbers
Whodini's Escape, Tina Turner's Private Dancer
 Janet Jackson's Control
Heavy D's Livin Large, Eric B & Rakim's Paid In Full
Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Guy's Self-Titled
Soul II Soul's Keep On Movin, Queen Latifah's All Hail the Queen
Brand Nubian's One for All, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet, En Vogue's Born to Sing
Ice Cube's Death Certificate, Lenny Kravitz's Mama Said
 Arrested Development's 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of..., Dr. Dre's The Chronic, Brand New Heavies' Self-Titled, Mary J Blige's What's the 411?
Ice Cube's Lethal Injection, Queen Latifah's Black Reign
Brand New Heavies' Brother Sister, Mary J Blige's My Life
D'Angelo's Brown Sugar, Goo Goo Dolls' A Boy Named Goo
Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, Outkast's ATLiens, Curtis Mayfield's New World Order, Aaliyah's One in a Million
Erykah Badu's Baduizm, Curtis Mayfield's Superfly (25th Anniversary Deluxe Set)
 Lenny Kravitz's 5, N'Dea Davenport's Self-Titled, Outkast's Aquemini
Erykah Badu's Mama's Gun, Jill Scott's Who Is Jill Scott?, Outkast's Stankonia, Coldplay's Parachutes

I'm wondering how hard it is to find a good album from 2001 and 2002 for most of you? I can't think of one, and I noticed that NuPwrSoul didn't list any either. I mean, I listen to A LOT of different styles of music, but no one album that really stands out above the rest as being the best.

I don't even know where to begin. I have a hard time with this kind of stuff. It's impossible for me to pick a favorite from any year. My favorite songs, albums, artists change a lot as I grow and hear new things.
