Vainandy may not like to hear this, but my favorite Patrice Rushen song is the mid-tempo "Feels So Real." It was in the vein of The S.O.S. Band's percussion-based stuff in the 1980s.

I love that one too. I didn't start hating midtempo stuff until that's all there was. I don't remember too many midtempo songs back in the day though. Everybody was either dancin' or fuckin'. lol

"Remind Me" (1982) music

This song is a Quiet Storm classic,I hear it all the time on the radio.

nod It's her most requested song, and it was never a single.

Radio was much more about entertainment back then. There were countless album tracks all over the radio back then.

"Remind Me" is my absolute favorite post-Prestige cut...everyone and their Mom sampled that shit in the 90s, my favorite "Remind Me" sample being "Grand Groove" by Intelligent Hoodlum..."Straight From the Heart" is easily my favorite LP - I do own four copies of it. My favorite Prestige LP is "Shout It Out". Very good stuff.

Does anyone else want to strangle Kirk Franklin for absolutely butchering "Haven't You Heard" with that wretched song of his? My God, I will be someplace and the first 30 to 40 seconds of that song comes on the radio and I will say to myself "Hallelujah! Somebody in radioland has still got the balls to play real music!" and then my buzz is quickly killed dead the very milli-second that cat's annoying-ass voice comes on. The whole song but particularly the string arrangements are BELOVED by me. I mean, damn. Why did he have to go THERE?
I love Gospel music. I even like some of Kirk Franklin songs. But you're right. He should've let the choir sing that one alone.

I don't even think it was a radio hit. I gotta break out the liner notes from the album, but my recollection is that it's one that became popular among fans when she did it in concert.

I used to hear "Remind Me" a lot after midnight on the Quiet Storm shows.

We had one station that had the news every hour at 15 minutes till the hour. When it would get close to the news, they usually would play a jazz instrumental song and fade it out whenever it was time for the news. I used to hear "Number One" many times but never got to hear it in it's entirety until I got the album.

Wow,,,how long has Sheree Brown been in the game? omfg

She, Paulette McWilliams and Brenda Russell seem to be in the "session" scene for god knows when.

Speaking of "Straight From The Heart".

Electra wasn't too fond of the album, they dismissed her and said "you should BE PRODUCED by Luther Vandross, George Duke or Maurice White".

She excused herself from the table, and released the song "Forget Me Nots" to the radio anyway with her own money,,,,,when the label saw how much the radios been asking for more of New Patrice, they let her release the album and a TOUR as a headliner.

Ain't that something? nod
