Michael could sell another 10mil album again but the days of 20mil+ are over for Michael and practically every other artist out there today.
Michael gets a hard time for not selling like he used to but what people forget is, NOBODY is selling those figures anymore due to one word: downloads.

You've got Michael Jackson. He's done soul, he's done pop, he's done rock. He's got a huge range of influences and a huge musical background. He has incorporated gospel and classical into some of his music. So he's an artist with a background in soul, who's music has been mostly pop/rock/soul with some dabbling in gospel, classical and other styles. Then you've got Will.I.Am. He's mostly a hip-hop artist. He's been trying for a fresh, new sound, and with BEP he has somewhat accomplished that on certain songs. He's a hip-hop artist and producer who wants to make different, exciting and innovative music. So what you end up with is an artist with the talent, influences and background to make innovative music, and a producer who wants to make innovative music. And when you've got someone who can, and some who wants to, then most likely, who will end up with something innovative. well, if MJ were working with Matmos or other out there producers but Will.I.Am? He's not really innovative in the first place... this cd will be as safe as white bread. if MJ really wanted to make a truly "innovative" album,he wouldn't work with any American producers at all.He would go to Europe somewhere and find an underground, edgy producer who is not known here in America. There's nothing innovative or unique about will.i.am and his production "skills".He's doing the same predictable,sample-based hip-hop crap that everyone else is doing.

Off the Wall sold over 8 million, so people were speculating if he could ever have the same success again. The first ever review that came in about Thriller, before it was released were rubbished. They said the album wasn't even half as good as Off The Wall and it wasn't going to sell anywhere near the amount Off The Wall did. Michael sure showed them.

Okay,I see what you mean.In Quincy's biography,he says that when some folks heard the first single ("The Girl Is Mine"),they were like "is this all you got??" LOL.I think it made perfect sense to release that song as the first single, then shock everyone later with the stronger songs ("Billie Jean","Beat It").It was a shrewd strategy. No, This Isn't 'Punk'd': Will.I.Am Records With Michael Jackson
By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Bridget Bland Producer swears it's not a case of mistaken identity. NEW YORK — Maybe the ever-reclusive Michael Jackson needs to start getting out in public more often, so people can get reacquainted with what his voice sounds like. It seems like whenever he reaches out personally to work with somebody these days, no one thinks it's actually him. The latest person to get confused was none other than one of the hottest producers in the game right now, Will.I.Am. "He called me on the phone and asked me to get down with him," Will said recently. "I didn't think it was him at first. I thought it was somebody joking around. "He was like, 'Nobody ever believes it's me,' " Will continued, giving his best light-voiced MJ impersonation. "I was like, 'No, seriously, who is this?' He says, 'It's Michael Jackson. This is me.' I was like, 'Prove it. Say, "I'm bad!" Let me hear you.' " Whether or not Jackson actually said, "I'm bad," will have to be left up to our collective imagination. But the two did talk over the phone a couple more times, and Will says he was on a plane to Ireland to record with Jackson a week later. "It was Mike," the Black Eyed Peas' leading man continued. "I'm a fan of the dude. He's the smartest dude I ever met. I met James Brown, had the opportunity to work wit' him too. You get a couple of great people to help you live your life. You got your Michael Jacksons, your James Browns, Princes, Nat King Coles, just to shed light on the earth. "Michael Jackson, he told me what rock and roll meant," he added. "He said, 'Rock and roll, you know, that means having sex. That's what they used to say back in the '50s: "You ever rock and roll?" ' Chillin' with him, you have a outlook on what Michael Jackson will be like. He still is real proud of being black. A lot of times he's repressed in the media, so you don't think that." Will says he's not sure if any of his music will end up on Jackson's next album, but they're continuing to talk and try to figure out what they need to do to finish their tracks. http://www.mtv.com/news/a...hael.jhtml

I don't think anything will sound like fergalicious, maybe something like PCD's Beep, which sorta sounded jackson-like to me. As long as they DON'T use samples in the music it might turn out okay after all.

When he says that we will hear stuff that has never been done before, he means stuff that we have never Michael do before, so it just might work. Eventhough he did not want to start only talking about the album or Michael Jackson, because he thinks it is up to "Michael Jackson who should start talk about himself and his album", he told that the album contains a complete new style and way of music no one ever heard or done by anyone in the music industry before. It will put Michael Jackson back "as inventor of great legendary hit music". [Edited 2/4/07 14:33pm]

Have yall heard about the song Michael recorded in Bahrain?
Kim Chandler listed on her website as a song she provided backing vocals for. http://www.kimchandler.ne...calist.htm It's called "He Who Make The Sky Grey" and was written by Michael, Jermaine and Sheik Abdullah. On the website it says it's called "He Who Make The Sky To Grey", but that's a typo because in an email she sent to MJNO, she said this: The track was done a while ago now and was called "He Who Makes The Sky Grey" (written by his brother Jermaine and Sheik Abdullah of Bahrain) but has not been released to date and I don't know if it ever will be.Michael's vocals were already down so we didn't get to meet him unfortunately. However, he did ring up during the session to speak to the session conductor - she was pretty excited!
All the best, Kim There is also another new song called "Benjamin" which is apparently a new song will.i.am has written and produced for MJ. You can listen to the demo (sung by a demo singer, not Michael) on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/wa...8ltMd7hQT0 I don't know what to think of it. It sounds interesting. I would be interested to see what MJ does with the song. [Edited 2/4/07 22:42pm] [Edited 2/4/07 22:49pm]

I would love to hear Michael produce him damn self already. Put out a solid 9 track 40 minute fucking gem, dont worry if anyone buys it. However all this album is gonna be is an over produced, guest appearance soaked, bore. Its going to be so layered, you wont even be able to hear michael.
