Isley Brothers - Showdown/Grand Slam 2fer CD Both albums have finally made it to CD in a 2-for-1 set. Paligap, am I remembering correctly that Coolin' Me Out is your fave Isleys tune?
Two CBS albums from 1978 and 1981 respectively, digitally remastered on one CD and housed in a slipcase. Showdown (1978) reached #4 in the Billboard charts while 1981's Grand Slam was another Top 10 album for the Isleys. Features extensive new liner notes. Includes the classics "Groove With You", "Take Me To The Next Phase", and "I Once Had Your Love". Tracks: 1. Showdown (Part 1 & 2) 2. Groove With You 3. Ain't Givin' Up No Love 4. Rockin' With Fire (Part 1 & 2) 5. Take Me To The Next Phase (Part 1 & 2) 6. Coolin' Me Out (Part 1 & 2) 7. Fun And Games 8. Love Fever (Part 1 & 2) 9. Tonight Is The Night (If I Had You) 10. I Once Had Your Love (And I Can't Let Go) 11. Hurry Up And Wait 12. Young Girls 13. Party Night 14. Don't Let Up http://www.soulmusicstore...b103e4ea57

I own "Showdown" as a separate CD (I bought it as a Japanese import about eight years ago) and IMO it's the last of the great 3+3 eras The Isley Brothers produced. "Coolin' Me Out" is one of my favorite songs by them, and "Take Me to the Next Phase," "Ain't Giving Up No Love," "Groove with You" and the title track also are standouts. [Edited 2/6/07 19:29pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I've heard just about every song on Showdown, but I'm still looking forward to this release.

I'd rather have them separately. I burned my vinyl copy of "Grand Slam" onto CD which sounds great. However, I only had a cassette of "Showdown" which I burned onto CD and you know how shitty cassettes sound. Andy is a four letter word.

I'd also rather have them separately and remastered with extra tracks the way Columbia has done with the others in the Legacy series, but I'll gladly take this one.

Yez, you is!!!!! I had gotten the Japanese import versions of those years back, but it's kool that they're finally available in the US!!! Now, if they'd just release that "Inside You" album, I'd be set!! ... [Edited 2/7/07 23:16pm] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout
