I'm listening now to Marvin Gaye's "I want you" album 4 the 1st

I couldn't catch some sleep, so I decided to do some "soulseek-ing". So I downloaded my first marvin gaye album (downloading the second Clipse album also).

I almost finished listening to it and I am: eek !

It's so beautiful...

That's a fitting album to break your Marvin cherry, as it were. lol It's probably my favorite of his (on the days when What's Going On isn't). My two favorites:

"I Want You" mushy
"Soon I'll Be Loving You Again" oral
"Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Isn't it lovely? There's nothing as lush as "Come Live With Me"!! That one, "Soon I'll Be Loving You," "I Want You," and "After the Dance" are my faves.....

Nothing like Marvin.

Good picks! "Come Live With Me Angel" is pure heaven. love "After the Dance," the little snippet of "I Wanna Be Where You Are," "All the Way Around"... I think I'll listen to the deluxe edition right now! music

I Want You is sublime. Feel All My Love Inside, After the Dance (vocal)/Instrumental , I Want You, and Come Live With Me Angel are outstanding tracks.

Definitely one of my favorite Marvin Gaye albums! This was the one that pathed the way for all the new jacks of the R&B game and it still sounds fresh 30 something years later. I still can't believe the pop/disco era weren't paying much attention to this album back in '76 because I Want You was one steamy and laid-back album. Has anyone heard the Leon Ware album, "Musical Message" album yet, because I heard it sounded alot like I Want You?

My fave Marvin CD is probably "Here My Dear." I always wondered why he didn't title it "Hear My Dear" especially for Anna. Good ole Marin.

"I Want You" and "What's Going On" are a tie. "Let's Get It On" would be next. For some reason, that one feels more "stiff" to me. I don't know why 'cause his singing is soulful as ever. Maybe it's the production, or it just felt less funky or something.

"Midnight Love" was a mess. His voice was still beautiful, though. Didn't he only win two Grammys in his entire career? And for "Sexual Healing" at that? (not that I don't like the song; I just don't think it ranks up there with his best).

eek Are you serious? That's one of my all-time favorite titles. It's perfect. You just know it's short for something like "Here, My Dear, Take What You Asked For... Was It Really Worth It, Bitch?" lol

'Let's Get It On' is my favorite Marvin Gaye album.I have childhood memories of going to the record store with my mother when she bought this album. This was back in 1974.That record was played all the time in our house,I know every lyric by heart, lol.

The title track,"Please Don't Go (Once You Go Away)","Come Get To This","Distant Lover" and "You Sure Love To Ball" are amazing....that's Marvin at the peak of his powers!! Imo,he never made a better album than this.
