He made the houseman turn the lights on and told the would be assisin that if he was going to take him out, he wanted him to do it so everyone could see it. Then the band clasped hands and did an accapella version of "You Can Make It If You Try". Of course, no one shot him and the show went on. The penultimate testament to his drug-induced paranoia. test

I personally believe that Larry should apologize for his behaviour over the years. Especially for his time with Prince. Before Sly came back he was acting like he was the songwriter for the SATFS songs. He was always saying things like when WE wrote this and things like that.Sometimes Larry didn't even played on the record, and even then he was acting like that. Sly wrote the music/lyrics and produced everything. ----- Stop the maddness Please

I believe its just the basic debat between them, Larry was straight and had his beliefs, and Sly is kinda of lunatic and was off the deep end, with drugs and womanizing, so larry said goodbye. This book, : Sly and The Family Stone: An Oral History(1998), by Joel Selvin, recounted a lot of those stories. He talked to all the former members of the group, except Sly and Larry, who both declined to participate. The whole book is designed so that the whole story of the group is told by the group themselves, as well as close friends, family members. But apparently, the drugs, bodyguards and traveling in different camps led to alot of distrust, to the point where Sly's goons were going after Larry's goons , and vice versa. (my copy's at home right now; I'll have to grab it later to give specifics. Unfortunately, without corroboration from the two main players, the exact reasons go unexplained.... ... [Edited 1/30/07 8:51am] Good reading There's one on P-Funk also [Edited 1/31/07 8:49am]
