More Strange Bio-Pic News

The latest issue of Rolling Stone has an article about the Spike Lee directed James Brown bio pic. Al Sharpton is advising, which makes some sense, I suppose, given his relationship with Brown.

This article also mentions the upcoming Marvin Gaye bio pic, Marvin (2008), with Roberta Flack serving as music supervisor.

More ominously, the article also notes the upcoming film See Me, Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked for Your Pleasure (2009) staring Mike Myers as the Who drummer. eek WTF?

I don't know, maybe Myers can pull it off. shrug Roger Daltry is co-producer.

eek It looks like there are two Marvin bio-pics being made.

In February 2006, production on an independent film, titled Sexual Healing, a biopic about Gaye's later years, was announced. It was to have been a full-scale biopic of Gaye, but Motown refused to license rights to its Marvin Gaye catalog. It is to start filming in May 2006, starring Jesse L. Martin. Recently news has been made about another Gaye biopic, titled Marvin - The Life Story of Marvin Gaye, being set for production also later this year with singer Roberta Flack supervising on the music and is said to be a full-scale biopic of Gaye.

This is a rumour..but I heard on the radio that James wanted Levar Burton (Roots, Star Trek) to play him. Levar Burton is a good actor but I don't know if I could see him as James.

There's no point in a bio-pic unless it's gonna be real.

The keith moon one should have his violence gainst his wife in it but i'll bet you they'll leave that out and make him out to be a loveable rogue. Same with Hendrix, miles davis and marvin gaye .

it's amazing how long it takes for some of these bio-pics to be made.I can't believe that they're just now starting the Marvin Gaye movie! And how many more decades will it take before the Jimi Hendrix movie gets made?

The hendrix movie wil be pointless becuase it will not be real. It's up to his estate to let it happen so they're not gonna present the real jimi.

Of course. The family don;t want everyone knowing how violent he was. They're weren;t happy with a few books which revealed this but they couldn;t stop them. Remeber the hendrix estate is about making money and if Hendrix's image is tainted that could effect merchandise.
Read 'room full of mirrors' for a taste of the real jim; even that holds back, the author was a fan so there's not much detail into the numerous beating Jimi gave to women but you get the idea(sent his gf to emergency room after smashing her face with a glass vodka bottle).

I have said before alot of the true genius artists are truly horrible people who inflict horrific things upon others.

He couldn't be worse than Miles Davis disbelief

Ask Cicely Tyson all about it. He REALLY fucked that woman up, I'm supriced that she bounced out of that state.

Saw it coming though,,,those men suffered and struggled with the American society which didn't get used to black men getting major royality treatment back then, so they took it out on their women.

You could say that again nod

But his book does him justice,,,he gave no apology for his attitude. So did Ike Turner in his "Taking My Name Back" book.

Yeah you're right. At least jimi knew it was wrong and felt bad about it. Even rick james knew he had lost his mind when he was doing crazy sh*t; he acknowledged that.

Axl rose was EVEN WORSE than any of the mentioned. His bio-pic would be something. Sick i tell tyou. mad

That Hendrix movie was horrible. At this point I've stopped holding my breath for a Jimi flick. The rumours have been running rampant since 1977. And now with Janie in the mix, it will never happen.
