Don Henley: New Eagles album, featuring all-new music, is in the works

at 20:48 on January 31, 2007, EST.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - After nearly 30 years, California's classic rock group the Eagles may soon release their first album of all-new music.

Founding member Don Henley said during a private weekend concert that the band was nearing completion on an album of all-new material, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday. "It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don't kill each other first," Henley, 59, told the crowd Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Eagles and Henley spokesman Larry Solters said Wednesday there was no comment.

"The Long Run" in 1979 was the Eagles last album featuring all-new studio material. That album included the Grammy-winning single "Heartache Tonight."

The group officially disbanded in 1982, then they reunited in 1994 for a comeback tour featuring Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder.

The band appeared together again in 1998, with past members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I loved the Eagles - they were amazing songwriters and could harmonize like noone else. So many classic songs... The "Desperado" album is amazing, IMHO.

Boston, I never cared much for... but they sound *nothing* like the Eagles. Very different styles.

The only thing the Eagles and Boston have in common were they both had success in the 70's. As far as being similiar bands and styles they are nothing alike. Harmony wise i think the Eagles rank as one of the best in that department.

I lump them in with that other awful band, America. Just waaaaay too safe for my tastes. Iam not beyond any hate for albums that are too slick without any kick, but Eagles are just plain boring, no matter how good the musicians were. So predictable and safe.

I just dont understand a world where people shit on hair bands (which i generally dont like), but because some bands are technically great, makes them above criticism

It says alot that the eagles greatest hits is the best selling album of all time in America.
