Joy Division

I'm so torn between them, on the one hand curtis' vocals and the production on all the albums are so brilliant that the songs just don't age, plus some of their songs totally echo my feelings at times. but i also have this bit of me that's torn because i also hear them as this really really overhyped band just because of curtis' death.

what do you think of joy division?

btw, i'm new here so hi smile

if you like 'em and you can relate to them, then they're not overhyped...to YOU. right?

Now the fun part is finding other bands that are as good that didn't get the same exposure. Good luck.

I think it depends on my mood...I really don't think they were all that talented as a whole, but rather the production and mood of their albums helps them. On some songs they're clearly not even in time...I think that's what I notice; maybe I should just like the tracks I like etc.

I love the song "Love will tear us apart". Courtney Love said she lost her virginity to the lead singer of Echo and the Bunnyman's lead singer with Joy Division in the background. Just a fun pop culture tid bit for ya!

Who doesn't love that song? lol It makes me really emotional though; I realised I had my first crush when I was listening to that song. It didn't work out.

Although it's been quite a while since I've listened to any Joy Division, they were one of my favourite bands up until I was 16 and discovered that life could really be a whole lotta fun.

Anyway, I love Atmosphere, She's Lost Control, Disorder, New Dawn Fades, Transmission and much of Closer to this day.

Those are some of my favourite tracks. I love most of Unknown Pleasures, but hate it when I see people who know nothing of Joy Division wearing those t-shirts.

Know what you mean. Motorhead shirts were all the rage in London a few years ago.

Don't get me started on Slipknot hoodies.
