MJ off to Japan - Vegas didn't want him Geez, anyone who pays $3,300.00 to shake his hand, needs to have their head examined! No performance, no Jesus Juice, nada.
You couldn't pay me that much to touch those filthy hands! http://www.nydailynews.co...4759c.html Jax goes job-hunting in Japan Shunned in Sin City BY MICHELLE CARUSO DAILY NEWS WEST COAST BUREAU CHIEF Tarnished pop icon Michael Jackson will take his comeback bid to Japan next month after weeks of job hunting in Las Vegas failed to land him a gig in Sin City's glitzy venues, sources said yesterday. Jackson, 48, is scheduled to appear at two meet-and-greet "fan appreciation" events in Japan, including one where guests will pay $3,300 to shake the Gloved One's hand. But the pop star won't perform at either of the events scheduled for March 8 and 9, according to his rep Raymone Bain. His last performance was Sept. 10, 2001, in Madison Square Garden. After spending about 18 months abroad following his acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005, Jackson returned to the U.S. in late December and made a beeline for the Vegas Strip. This month, the jobless singer has been spotted meeting with business and entertainment types, including billionaire hotel-casino developer Steve Wynn of Wynn Las Vegas Resort and director/choreographer Kenny Ortega. But a Jackson family source said the King of Pop hasn't scored a job offer yet. "Michael struck out in Vegas. It has not panned out. The big hotels won't give him a contract like Celine Dion or Wayne Newton, because Michael has not been reliable in recent years," said the source. The source said Jackson recently bragged to his family that he'd been offered a $200 million-a-year, three-year deal at Caesar's Palace, but a spokesman for the famed venue said he had "no information" about any offer. In a statement, Jackson gushed about his love for Japan, "one of my favorite places in the entire world." "My fans in Japan have helped me achieve historic milestones in the entertainment industry, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart," he said. Those Japan events have been planned before, so that´s no news. We´ll see what happens about that Vegas thing. The articles differ on the Vegas thing and some say there will be two parties for fans. Anyways, Mike I love you, but 3300 and in Japan ...damn I´ll never get to see ya....
Michael Jackson returns to the U.S. By ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press Writer 19 minutes ago Since Michael Jackson forsook his Neverland Ranch, the King of Pop has popped up in some very unexpected places. He's taken up residence in the Gulf state of Bahrain, in France and even in a castle in Ireland. He showed up in Augusta, Ga., to give a eulogy at James Brown's funeral, and materialized in London to accept an award for his contributions to the world of pop music. Lately he's been spotted in Las Vegas on his famed shopping sprees. So where is he now? In a rare conference call, the singer emerged with his spokeswoman Friday to confirm to The Associated Press that he is back in the United States after more than a year in self-imposed exile following his acquittal in a high-profile child molestation trial that ended in June 2005. They also said he is on the comeback trail _ planning a pair of "fan appreciation events" in Japan in March, one of which will charge $3,300 for the opportunity to meet the Gloved One. "I can confirm that he is in the United States," spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said. "We don't give out information regarding our client's whereabouts because of safety, and this is just an ongoing policy." During the brief conference call, Jackson read a statement prepared for The Associated Press about his plans to visit Japan and allowed only one question: How are you? "I'm fine, thank you," was his reply. Jackson, one of the best-selling artists of all time, said he has chosen to come back to Japan because of the strong support he enjoys here. "My friends and fans in Japan have been so supportive of me and my family for many, many years," he said. "My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry." Broderick Morris, the promoter working the Japan side of Jackson's trip, said they have sold 220 of 300 tickets to a "platinum VIP party" on March 8 with Jackson, at $3,300 a pop. Guests will have dinner, get autographed photos and be able to "meet and greet" Jackson for 30 seconds to one minute, he said. A less-exclusive party is scheduled for the following day. Jackson is not obligated to perform at either event, and promoters refused to comment on how much Jackson, 48, would be paid. Jackson made his first official foray back into the spotlight after his acquittal with an appearance _ again, in Tokyo _ to accept MTV Japan's "Legend Award." Last November, he allowed the syndicated TV show "Access Hollywood" to film him in the studio, working on music with producer will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. ___ http://news.yahoo.com/s/a..._jackson_2 "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

WTF? I can't believe how stupid the media is. He's been planning to go to Japan for ages. The fan appreciation event has been planned for months and months. It's not because he was shunned by Vegas. The media is just so stupid sometimes... actually all the time.

that's weak. what is a performer who doesn't perform What about the Beatles? After their 1966-tour they never performed again. It's not only about performing. If he wants to perform, he could. But at the moment, he doesn't want to. By the way, he performed on Oct. 30th 2001 at RFK-Stadium in Washington, D.C. at the Sept. 11th-benefit-concert. And in 2002 he performed at the 50th anniversay of 'American Bandstand' and at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem with Diana Ross to support Bill Clinton and his party. In 2003 he performed with James Brown on stage at the BET awards. So, yes: Sep 10th 2001 was his last full-time show. But he did performances at TV-shows etc. But he is no man who just wants to perform. He wants the world to see it. He wants that every concert he does is recognized worldwide. He doesn't want to be a performer like everybody else, who does many concerts a year, but no one really recognizes it. He wants it to be something very special for the world, when theres a Michael Jackson concert. And you don't have that with a deal in Las Vegas. And you don't have that with a small tour. So he's wating until he has the right idea and gets the right people to do it.

Geez, anyone who pays $3,300.00 to shake his hand, needs to have their head examined!
This is the same thing I said to someone who spent almost $1000 on Madonna tickets. The only event I would even consider paying big bucks to see is if Jesus came back to life and had a "One Night Of Miracles" show. Anyone who can bring people back to life, walk on water, multiple mass quantities of food, and turn water into wine would definitely be getting my money. Can Madonna and MJ do this...I think not. Did he actually SING @ any of those? Yes. The Apollo concert he sung 100% live, and reports said it was his best ever concert. It's a shame he bought the copyright so that no TV networks can air it.

Am I mistaken, or are there not 2 events in Japan? One is a VIP ting with the expensive tickets, for gluttonous old businessmen and stuff - people who $3000 means absolutely nothing to, and there's some chep thing the next day for fans.
Or was that scrapped. Either way I always thought it was such a pointless idea.
