Wow - she's had a makeover! What's she been doing in the meanwhile?

Nevermind. I think I just answered my own question.

Icicle, think of Vesta Williams' earlier music as more contemporary-type ballads, like a more accessible Chaka Khan. Her biggest hit songs were "Once Bitten Twice Shy," "Sweet, Sweet Love," "Special" and her signature song, "Congratulations."

THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I also really liked her dance hit "Do Ya." I need to track that song down...

Sounds good... I`ll have to check her out. Does she wail like Khan?

I personally thought Vesta's voice sounds similar to Chaka Khan's; in fact, she was a studio singer with stints with Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and Stephanie Mills. So you're going to get some of the similar vocal treatment on those songs I named.

You still can buy Vesta's second album, "Vesta 4 U," while it's in print. That's the album that has "Sweet, Sweet Love" and "Congratulations."

On an interesting note: Vesta also has done stints as a stand-up comedienne, and during one of her performances she did a pretty mean impersonation of Vanessa Williams that started a rivalry of sorts.

She was all over the "Chaka Khan" album along with Mel'isa Morgan and Sandra St. Victor.

I like Vesta alot, but I am NOT buying this.I'm not buying the new Diana Ross CD either.Re-making classic songs is too easy. It's lazy.
