Michael Jackson to release new album only on the net.

Will.I.am Expects Michael Jackson To Release New Album On Net
By Staff
Jan 26, 2007

Michael Jackson's new album will only he released on the internet, according to his studio collaborator Will.I.am.
The Black Eyed Peas rapper insists Thriller icon Jackson is still such a huge star, he will top the charts on the strength of download sales alone.

The 31-year-old says, "Michael is the one act who doesn't need a record label - he can do it all through social networking sites."

Judging the current state of the music business, it can be a good strategy.

Download or physical release, I will buy it!

Even though I think the general population assume MJ is out of it, he just might be on to something. Artists have done this before but now is the time.

as a huge mj fan I'm not very happy with this news at all. I don't have a credit card, and I don't really do the online thing with ordering music. VERY disappointed. I was upset when prince did this and I'm a thousand times more upset that michael is doing this. Could it be the fact that he has prince's former manager in his team?

hmmm could it be that Michael is having a hard time getting a new record deal? I can't imagine that he,of all people, would want to release a new CD without a huge budget and expenses.

Boy does he loved to suck on Prince's ass pipe eek lol

He gets his manager
He gets Will.I.am after Prince plays with him on the BET Awards
He does the Internet Only Sales thing (ie: music club)

Actually this is a good way to hide the record sales, because we all know it aint going to sell. He needs because of his ego to sell like the biggest thing ever, instead of getting nailed/exposed. Hide online.

If he REALLY wants to imitate Prince, he'd take orders online and then never send them out.

lol (still waiting on Crystal Ball . . . 9 years later)

That's true. Michael doesn't need a label. This is where music is going anyway.
He can't slack on the videos, but I doubt that he will.
Will these be for web only, too? If not, will they be web first? They should be.

It's only Will I Am speculating and talking about new media, no one has said that this is what Michael Jackson is going to do.

After all, he has to finish the thing first..

lol.

What a discussion is this? It was just a thought of Will.I.Am.
Michael never said, that he won't release the album on CD.

I bet, he will sign a record deal when the album is ready to be relased, just like Prince did with his last two albums.

i dont believe michael jackson will do this!

michael jackson is an old artist from the motown era, he will release the cd in the same way he has always done it!

This album will be Michael's 'comeback' album. That combined with the fact that Michael loves his music to sell as many copies as is humanly possible makes me think that this report is merely speculation on Will.I.Am's part, if this report is true at all. Michael's not known for taking any risks musically, it's all about making perfect pop albums that sell and let's face it, this would be the last CD for MJ to be thinking about any kind of risk that may harm sales.

It's a possibility that it may be available as a download before the CD release, but I seriously doubt it'll be download only.
