Ok, it's not anything like the classic broadway soundtrack from 1982, but the new soundtrack from the motion picture has some fine renditions of the classic scores from the play. Move, Fake Your Way To The Top, Cadillac Car, Stepping To The Bad Side, I Want You Baby, Family, I Meant You No Harm/Rap, and Hard To Say Goodbye were the only worthy gems on the newer version. But the Jennifer Hudson tracks is what makes this soundtrack standout more than any of the other tracks on this soundtrack to me and I think the way she interprets songs like I Am Changing, And I Am Telling You, and One Night Only is just incredible. I hate to even say this, but I even think she does And I Am Telling You better than when Jennifer Holiday sang it. So, the newer soundtrack does have some flaws and some of the songs' changed orchestrations seem engineered to make this soundtrack sell better to today's audiences, but they also work exactly against the point of the musical's story. Still, I don't think this soundtrack tops the original score, but the movie is great! Check me out and add me on:

esp. It's All Over, when she put her hand on her side and goes "i'm not feelin' well, i've got pain" that whole segment was amazing actually | |
