Somehow, I don't think you're going to find anyone who doesn't like this song. Is that even possible? I hope not. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I love this song! It's kind of like his farewell from the world and into heaven everytime you hear it. His voice takes this song to an even higher level. It's impossible not to love this song because it is one of the greatest songs ever written. Wasn't this song his answer to Bob Dylan's Blowin' In The Wind and reflected Sam's personal turmoil? Check me out and add me on:

Love Sam Cooke, love the song. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

When I was a child, this song would make me miserably sad but now I rather enjoy singing it when I hear it. When I was in NYC last month, I went to Amature Night at the Apollo Theater and 2 contestants sang this song. One of them did it acapella. Both versions were really good but neither of them won.

Great song. It truly captured the essence of the movie "X" when it played as El Hajj drove to the Audubon Theater leading up to his assasination.
And yes, Leela James does in fact do a good cover of it as mentioned before. Cornbread, Grits, and Collard Greens/I got what you need/If you want it/Cuz I'm a pimp, girl/With a drippy, juicy Jheri Curl

Amazing song. My fave cover version is by Baby Huey, I just love the stoned R&B edge of this version & the psych-out monologue.

One of the best vocal recordings EVER! No effects, no pitch altering...just Sam. Deitrick Haddon has a gospel-styled version thats pretty good too. "I wasn't invited to shake hands with Hitler, but I wasn't invited to the White House to shake hands with the President, either" ~ Jesse Owens

And yes, Leela James does in fact do a good cover of it as mentioned before. I concur. Co- When I heard that song playing during that scene in the movie, I knew I had to find it. It makes no sense to me that it wasn't included on the soundtrack. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
