Donny Hathaway fans? I just uploaded his greatest hits onto my ipod.
This guy was the sh*t. "A Song For You", "Someday We'll All Be Free", "For all We Know", etc. Great stuff if you like old soul.

He was somethin' else!
His daughter Lalah is, too.

I have all of his records including the OST "Come back Charleston Blue".
The thing I'm longing to hear is his shelved live album with Roberta Flack and the unfinished musical he composed post-Extension Of a man, which was titled as simply "Life". Donny was the truth. He acceeded his producers(Arif Mardin and Jerry Wexler) abilities to the point where they just attached their names to the credit while he mainly did all the work. His work with other artists is priceless. I think he co-arranged/played in ALL of Aretha's "Young Gifted & Black".

Get Donny's 'Live' album. It's one of the best beginning to finish live albums I've ever heard. His 12-minute live version of 'The Ghetto' is incredible.

Isn't his version of Stevie Wonder's "Superwoman" from that album? The definitive collection on Donny has yet to be released in my opinion. Donny was the truth. Donnie is still DAT DEAL! His music evokes so much emotion to me. i always find myself wishing we had better anti-depressants when i hear donnie.
about Lalah, did she ever coming close to topping the quality of her debut? i didn't cop anything besides that.

Yeah he was onstage with Prince when he performed on the NAACP Image Awards --he featured Frank Playing and singing Curtis Mayfield's "Movin On Up"--- anyway yeah he's got Donny's feel on Vocals and Keyboards but he says was also heavily influenced By Patrice Rushen, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and George Duke ... Donny Hathaway seems completely under-rated. Not by those that love him, but by the general public. My Legacy
