Laugher in the Rain, by Neil Sedaka, love that ewwwww part he does.

Any ballad by Bread. Those mushy guys really could do a good tune.

Ben, by Michael Jackson. Nothing like a sweet love song to a rat.

You know those AM Gold discs for the 70s aren't so bad, but they are mostly "lite".

Some of the most melodic and lyrical songs are "lite" though.

Don't bullshit, by "lite" you mean that dirtiest of dirty words, MOR LOL.

A good thread though, meaning some of you do like MOR after all. Shame most of you like the 70's stuff, which I think is dull and too much like background music.

This was covered many times. Marlena, George Benson and D'Angelo(which was the 1st version I heard, it was originally planned as a duet with Lauryn Hill - but she turned it down).

More tunes:

Chaka Khan - Night Moods
MJ - Can't Help It
Patrice Rushen's WHOLE RnB debut album.
Syreeta - I Love Everything About You
Minnie Riperton- Simple Things
Mary Jane Girls - All Night Long
Rick James - Mary Jane
Teena Marie- Oh La La La
Prince - My Love Is Forever
Aretha Franklin - Day Dreaming
Madonna - Physical Attraction
Mtume - Juicy Fruit

I understand why you picked this one from a musical standpoint...

One child grows up to be
Somebody that just loves to learn
And another child grows up to be
Somebody you'd just love to burn

Mom loves the both of them
You see it's in the blood
Both kids are good to Mom
'Blood's thicker than the mud'
It's a family affair

Newlywed a year ago
But you're still checking each other out
Nobody wants to blow
Nobody wants to be left out
You can't leave, 'cause your heart is there
But you can't stay, 'cause you been somewhere else

You can't cry, 'cause you'll look broke down
But you're cryin' anyway 'cause you're are broke down

It's a family affair

...but the lyrical content is anything but "Lite".
(as you indicated in a sense)

I crack up everytime I hear that line, esp considering the way Sly sang it lol

But yeah, I don't think its lite either nod thing is, I pay more to the music than to lyrics,,,it takes me a lil' bit of time to get into the lyrical content esp with all of my attention to the musical production.

Nah, not much 90's MOR about really. Its all well and good having great session musicians on tracks people have mentioned, but the songs are still MOR
