So Van Halen 2007 with Roth looks likely What does everyone think to this. Im hoping it works out but Roth to me is well past it and unless he seriously gets his ass into gear and works on his voice it's gonna be an embarrassment. Also what do folks think to the bands new bass player? Eddies 15 year old son Wolfgang. I thought it was a joke at first but it's 100% true. Either way its a must see tour even though it could be a real car wreck. [Edited 12/21/06 19:45pm]

[Edited 12/21/06 19:45pm] I am more worrried about Eddie than Roth or Wolfgang. On the last tour, with Hagar, he was NOT the Eddie Halen VH fans wanted to see. Playing was far from what it should have been and he was sometimes intoxicated on stage. I do not think Roth should do it.

David Roth with Van Halen...YAY. I'm so there!
I saw the Roth and Hagar combo tour back in 2002, which featured the Van Halen bass player. It was a great show! While I prefer Roth over Hagar, I loved hearing Sammy sing "Dreams." That song has a special place in my heart. As for David, he was in great performing shape. Totally kicking ass and taking names. Can we get some sources or reasons for thinking this though? I'd hate to get all pumped. Here is to hoping it works out. [Edited 12/21/06 23:26pm]

Hate to ruin the party but sorry...No Micheal Anthony, No Van Halen. As a old school "Roth-VH" fan, this is a slap in the face to Micheal. Why should Eddie be mad at him because he wants to go out and jam w/ Sammy? Eddie and Alex have sat around for almost 10 years doing nothing.
They really dropped the ball 10 years ago when they had the chance to do this.

Train wreck with child endangerment
I keep the memories of Roth forgetting lyrics and being too winded to sing... Glad Eddie just figured out that his solo single wasn't enough, I mean WTF is this? http://www.youtube.com/wa...ed&search= [Edited 12/22/06 8:14am]

They really dropped the ball 10 years ago when they had the chance to do this. That's true. Michael's background vocals are as much as part of the VH sound as Ed's guitar and Alex's snare drum. (IMO) If they would've done in 1996 in would've been the biggest thing since Totie Fields in a thong. I wonder if it's going to happen because with ED, Alex and now Wolfie it's going to look like a "majority rule" situation and Dave ain't having it. Dave isn't saying anything so that means either he's going to be quiet until he the playing field is level or it's a no go. http://www.youtube.com/wa...NqjCCX57jU [Edited 12/23/06 8:12am] "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Dave Says Van Halen's Hot for Combat Posted Dec 28th 2006 11:51AM by TMZ Staff TMZ caught up with David Lee Roth in Manhattan last night, and he warned that a potential Van Halen reunion could result in a NASCAR-style wreck. Or a "Jerry Springer"-like brawl. Or even a "Knots Landing"-esque bitchfight! Diamond Dave, looking dapper and well-coifed outside of Marquee, said that he's excited that Van Halen was nominated for a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but wondered whether the band would spontaneously combust if they reunited. For months, the band has hinted at a reunion, but Roth admitted in May that he hasn't spoken to guitarist Eddie Van Halen for almost two years. "A Van Halen reunion is a lot like NASCAR -- are you there to see the winner or the crash?" mused Dave. "In this aspect, we're a lot closer to "Jerry Springer" meets "Knots Landing, which, to me, sells T-shirts." And probably tickets too. [Edited 12/21/06 19:45pm] First of all there's nothing wrong with DLR's voice, genius. There's really nothing wrong with Roth in general, he's a lil'; arrogant but other than that he has no personal problems I've heard of. Eddie is a drunk and a meth head so thats a bigger issue than Roth or Wolfgang and I doubrt Eddie would be much of an issue. I'm gonna miss Mike Anthonys harmonies becaue they rocked. Van Halen harmonies are 3rd in my opinion, bhing Styx and Queen.

Let's hope it isn't Deja Vu'. Both Dave and Sam went through a few things with VH.

If I were Eddie Van Halen, I would seriously reconsider hiring Michael Anthony back. Van Halen is not the same without him.
I like both Roth and Hagar versions equally (hated Cherone). Have to say though - the bonus songs on the 2-CD Best Of Both Worlds were awful.

I cant see how DAVE in the band with 3 Van Halen family members isnt going to be an issue, last time around Alex and Eddie ganged up on him for just being DAVE. Its not like they dont know wwhat dave is like, did they think he was going to behave on stage? Also i think all the health issues Eddie has had, the cancer scare, the alcohol, the 2 hip replacements, maybe its just time that Van Halen ends, instead of changing lead vocalists ever tour and album. Carl thank u for posting that Eddie clip. That amp sounds fantastic! Too bad I don't have $10.000 to spend on it. (lol) I wish Eddie would stop smoking those damn cigarettes. He had 1/2 his tongue cut out from the cancer. You'd think he'd learn his lesson.

But then also, this could be just a marketing ploy by Edward to sell guitars. You know promise the fans Dave is coming back. Get people to think it's 1984 all over again with the "FrankenStrat" guitars.
Chances are, Dave never ever considered it after the 1996 fiasco. They recorded together in 2001 but it fell apart. If it does happen Dave better not come out sounding like this: http://www.youtube.com/wa...ZA_o&eurl= Classic Edward. http://www.youtube.com/wa...975Y&eurl= [Edited 1/23/07 15:52pm] "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Rolling Stone Article http://www.rollingstone.c...#more-1875 The reunion that Van Halen fans have been awaiting for twenty-two years began in December, when David Lee Roth walked into Eddie Van Halen’s Hollywood home studio. There he rejoined the band for a rehearsal, singing fourteen Van Halen classics. “They totally got along on a personal level,” a source close to the reunion says. “And it sounded great.” At press time, Roth and the band were negotiating a deal for a major summer tour, which would be Van Halen’s first Roth-fronted tour since 1984. Along with a possible Police reunion, it would likely be among the year’s biggest box-office draws. “Everything is up in the air,” Eddie Van Halen tells Rolling Stone. “We don’t want to say anything prematurely.” He suggested that the band is waiting on Roth: “People know where we are and that we’re making music. Whoever wants to come up can join us — they’re welcome.” But the famously contentious group may already be having communication problems. The source replies, “Dave is ready. He’s been ready.” Meanwhile, Van Halen will be inducted on March 12th into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — and it could prove to be an awkward night. Both Roth and his successor, Sammy Hagar, will be inducted, as will founding bassist Michael Anthony, who was recently replaced by Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie’s fifteen-year-old son. “It’s a privilege and an honor,” Eddie says. “And outside of that, we don’t know what the hell is going on. . . . Hey, Sammy might not show up on time — because he can’t drive fifty-five. Sorry, bad joke.” For his part, Hagar — who split with the band in 1996 and clashed with Eddie on a 2004 reunion tour — says he will be there. “Everyone wants to see a good train wreck, but I’d rather see a beautiful flight,” he says. “I’d have no problem sharing a stage with David.” The last decade has been tumultuous for Eddie Van Halen and the band. After Hagar’s exit, a brief reunion with Roth flamed out, and they ended up releasing 1998’s Van Halen III with a third singer, Gary Cherone, formerly of Extreme. The album flopped, as did an accompanying tour. In 2002, Eddie got divorced, and he was later diagnosed with tongue cancer. He told Howard Stern in 2006 that he beat cancer “in a way that’s not exactly legal in this country.” In the fall, Eddie released two solo songs for the soundtrack of a porn movie called Sacred Sin. Eddie, Wolfgang and drummer Alex Van Halen have been regularly rehearsing without Roth, and they’re working up songs for a new album. Eddie says that Michael Anthony is no longer in the group because of his decision to tour with Hagar as the Other Half. “Anthony and Hagar started their own band,” says Eddie. “You can’t be in two bands.” The Van Halen brothers say they’ve been inspired by Wolfgang’s youth and energy — and that he’s changed the sound of the band. “Wait until you hear this kid play,” says Eddie. “I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We’ve got a shredding bass player now that’s laying down the law for Alex, so I get to weave in and out.” Alex says the situation reminds him of the days when he and Eddie would jam with their dad, a jazz musician, when they were kids. “Our father would look at us and say, ‘As long as you guys can hold your own, there is no age difference,’ ” says Alex. Eddie says that the band is determined to tour this summer, whether Roth is on board or not. “There’s not just one person on this planet that can sing,” he says. “We’re not waiting on nothing.” Adds Alex, “Whoever the singer is, they’ll be surrounded by Van Halens.” "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page
