Sweet Thing/Candidate-Bowie Bowie has written some strange songs before and this one is one of the more unique ones. I
It is actually my favorite song by David, but I was wondering if anyone else likes this song and/or knows the inspiration for it? "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

Me likes! Me loves, in fact! The inspiration behind it was propably that white powder that he used to take back then. His vocals are just genius on this.

The lyrics: I'm having so much fun with the poisonous people Spreading rumours and lies and stories they made up There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

i'm a big bowie fan and i love that song. my buddy joan as policewoman actually covered it for a b-side, recently. her version keeps all the sexy and leaves out most of the menace. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND

The song has very haunting vocals. It is so dark and sexual in its own way that it stnads out in Bowie's catalogue (and that says alot). What stands out is just two or so years before, he was the glam rock king. He just glided so easily from genre to genre. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."
