Antony and the Johnsons!

I was watching the tribute/documentary "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man" on dvd last night and I literally burst into tears during "If It Be Your Will," which was performed by someone named Antony. I had to rewatch the performance two more times to make sure that what I was experiencing was not some sort of hidden depression that just came out of nowhere. No such thing. I cried two more times. eek

Music had not affected me this much since Joni Mitchell. I got on itunes and purchased their album "I Am A Bird." It's been on repeat since last night. Wow! Fantastic! It's like Jeff Buckley and Nina Simone had a child.

Anyway, don't know if this band has been discussed here before but I had never heard of them until last night...if you want to listen to something beautiful, strange, tragic, funny and over all different, I highly recommend this band.

His voice is amazing.... nod
I remember seeing a documentary about New York musicians, where i saw some clips of him and an interview. Not long after that i head "You are my sister", which i loved. I still haven`t bought any of his albums though...

Sigh.

I got the same experiences as you, while listening to Antony. Beautiful.

The Lake is my fave. But almost everything he does is beautiful.

Yes...that is an amazing song. I'm currently under the spell of "Fistfull of Love."

Seriously though. I feel like a teenager discovering the power of music. This is great stuff.

Seems this one moved a lot of people. Some guy, Adam created an animation to it.

Thanks for the links...

Wow, The Lake was beautiful. Seriously though, Antony's voice is beyond words. It's interesting to read the comments on youtube and here as well. He seems to have the same effect on a lot of people.
